Justin finds himself saving pop star Elle Tyler from a brutal attack from a mad man. And although the woman he finds is in the worse condition of her life, he's not able to get her out of his mind. Elle had it all, but the moment she's robbed of her security and the way she sees herself by her assailant, her world and the way she perceive people around comes crumbling down. To her surprise, the man who saved her life, is the one person who is not blinded by her fame or her scars, and the one who will provide the support she so desperately needs.
The relationship between Elle and Justin is nothing more than a friendship with some attraction in the mix, but soon those feelings start transforming and a slow burning desire begins to surface. But life doesn't come easy to these two, there's still a crazy stalker on the loose and a secret that threatens to destroy their still fragile relatioship.
I'm a big fan of this series, the way the author show us the love and support this family displays for each other as well as the humorous grief the brothers give each other, is what makes this series so appealing and captivating.
This is a book with a bit of angst, romantic flare and a whole lot of love. The writing is raw when it needs to be and definitely realistic. Sometimes life put us in situations that bring out the strength hidden deep inside of us, sometimes life give us an unexpected hero who is ready to show us that the scars we carry on the outside only represent the fire that push us to survive the most difficult times.
The story of Justin and Elle is good. Their attraction to one another after a tragedy brings them together is heart-warming. Their relationship develops instead of happens instantly.
It was really the OTHER parts of the story that just did not work for me. Spoilers ahead:
Mallory. That part was just ridiculous. It added nothing to the story at all. I feel like the author started to make a secondary story about Mallory and her crazy but decided not to, which resulted in that part of the story just not making any sense in the grand scheme of the book.
Gary Beasley's grand reveal. It was somewhat anticlimactic. The use of the ring was great, but at the same time, a ring like that? How did Justin not realize Elle was even wearing it?
Her taking off without a word was immature and rather disappointing as a reader. Because Elle wasn't a runner and she turned into one.
I don't know, there was just too much wrong for me.
Seeing a gruesome attack with its aftermath is not something you truly get over, but living through it is that much worse. Elle and Justin's story is off the charts, and I'm so glad that the brothers also played a part in this storyline too, which is always great when they are bickering back and forth. This book was a quick, easy full of love story. Congrats to BR on such a great story.
