As I highly recommend you read “A Hidden Element,” you have to start off with book 1, “A Human Element.” Otherwise a lot of what’s written will just go over your head, and you won’t be able to appreciate the overall story, or what Ben and Laura went through to be together. While this is of the science fiction genre, it’s equally a paranormal one. As for romance, it’s there but it’s not your typical romantic story of boy meets girl; they break up over a ridiculous angst; and get back together again, etc. I really can’t explain it without giving too much away. All I can is that when Ben and Laura do get together, the love they have for one another is fierce. Lastly, I warn you now that this novel is full of sexual situations, torture, and abuse. I guess now I just have to wait for the third and last installment, whenever that will be. Soon I hope.
Book two in this dark paranormal world picks up a few years after we first meet the power couple Ben and Laura. A Human Element (Book 1) does a great job of laying down the foundation of this trilogy. These books are not by any means for the faint of heart. They are dark and twisted, with intense sexual situations, torture and abuse. So be warned up front, if you can't handle this type of story.
While it's not my cup of Chai tea, I did get into the story. Donna casts a deeper look into her characters, with her colorful writing, and you get a broader view of both the good and bad characters. With an alien race that's able to control human minds, it really is true that with great power comes great responsibility! Oh the things you can abuse with mind control! Yikes!
With the alien leader now laser focused on Laura's teenage son, she's one hell bent momma out to protect her child from their clutches! I was right there with her. This one is intense and I can't stress that enough. I like a good nail bitter but I really had no clue if a happy ending was coming.
If you like the darker side of paranormal and a damn good mystery, then grab this one with both hands!

I enjoyed reading about the continuing story of the characters. Charlie's character is one that most people can associate with. He feels that he doesn't fit in and is looking for a place to belong. I sure some of us have felt that way before.
I feel bad for Caleb's character. He wants to care for his father but feels that his father's motives are wrong. He loves his parent but hates what he is doing. I hope to see more of him in future books. He is a strong character with an interesting story.
I'm not a big fan of Suspenseful Paranormal, but Galanti has a way of pulling you in. I enjoy her books. They remind me of the Leech Series by james crawford.
When choosing to read this book, I recommend reading A Human Element first. To fully understand Charlie you need to know how Laura and Ben came to be.
Recommended read for those Paranormal lovers.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed the story and the development of some characters. I don't usually read much science fiction but I actually enjoyed a break from non fiction, murders, mysteries and cheap thrills. I look forward to the next one! I had books ahead of this in my queue but since book 1 moved to next to be read, I had to follow with this one right away. I'm glad I did.
