Anyways, I think Hidden Gifts was written better than Stolen Gifts. It felt less choppy. But the two books seemed... inconsistent with each other. Stolen gifts had one love making scene. This one got me bookmarking it as erotica on Goodreads. I have no problems what erotica books. Actually, I LOVE erotica books. I was just not expecting it since the first book had so little.
Although this was written better, I'm going to lean more towards 3 stars for two reasons.
1. The back and forth between Caine and Van was aggravating. It was a roller coaster I wanted to get off of. One minute Caine is professing his love, the next they are both slamming the door at each other. Then repeat.
2. I don't like calling people stupid, but I really want to tell Van she is stupid. She takes a few kick boxing classes and thinks she can go Rambo on someone?
I would have also liked to have seen more people using their gifts. Here we get to see Van growing in her mind powers, but we don't get to see Caine use his gifts at all. There are a few parts where new characters use their gift, but it really isn't much. That probably would of made me give it 4 stars. I was waiting for that bad ass moment... but it never came.
So now I'll ask myself if I'll continue the series.
My answer: Maybe
Rasha Selim has created an engaging world that has kept me turning page after page. She pulls you in to her characters and makes you love, hate, get frustrated with, and sympathize with each one. I can't wait for the next book. If you haven't read the first book, it is fantastic as well. Please release the next book soon.
