Adina Senft grew up in a plain house church and was often asked if she was Amish. (The answer was no.) She holds an MFA in writing popular fiction from Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania, where she is part of the adjunct faculty. Between books, Adina enjoys playing the piano and Celtic harp, making historical costumes, and spoiling her flock of rescued chickens.

USA Today bestselling author Adina Senft grew up in a plain house church, where she was often asked by outsiders if she was Amish (the answer was no). She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Lancaster University in the UK. Adina was the winner of RWA's RITA Award for Best Inspirational Novel in 2005, a finalist for that award in 2006, and was a Christy Award finalist in 2009. She appeared in the 2016 documentary film Love Between the Covers, is a popular speaker and convention panelist, and has been a guest on many podcasts, including Worldshapers and Realm of Books. She writes steampunk and contemporary romance as Shelley Adina; and as Charlotte Henry, writes classic Regency romance. When she’s not writing, Adina is usually quilting, sewing historical costumes, or enjoying the garden with her flock of rescued chickens.

I've never read anything by Ms. Senft, but after reading this book, The Hidden Life: An Amish Quilt Novel, I went ahead and downloaded the first book in this series The Wounded Heart: An Amish Quilt Novel . I absolutely loved Emma Stolzfus, The Hidden Life's main character. She is a wonderfully well-drawn character full of humor, wit, and honesty. I could easily relate to her and her struggles to be heard and recognized as her own person, while still being a member of the community. The author did a stellar job of not letting Emma's more fiery moments become prolonged or skewed, and the gentle humor had me laughing out loud a few times. I finished this book with a smile, but I was sorry to have it end. It's rare to find a book with such an appealing main character, and, in this case, appealing supporting characters. I loved Emma's friends, Amelia and Carrie, and I loved Emma's mother. I enjoyed the day to day life descriptions in Emma's amused and amusing voice. Truly, this was so very well done, I would probably keep gushing on, but even I am finding myself a bit much. Just read it. If you enjoy Amish fiction, read it. If you enjoy Christian fiction, read it. If you have never tried either, you might want to start here. That said, there are references made to events that happened in the first book of the series. I am caught up with the characters so much, I won't find it to be a plot spoiler as I begin the first book. However, if you think that will bother you, begin with the first book and move forward. That is Amelia's story. Carrie's story is not out in print, I don't believe. Can't wait, though, and I am sorry this is just a trilogy. Well, done!

Emma Stolfuz in 30 years old- never been kissed - never dated- she was sure she was going to be an old maid. Only one man in her life she had ever truely loved- Grant Weaver and he had married someone else!! The only true passion that Emma has now is writing Amish novels- but- it is against the ordung- so Emma figures it is pretty much hopeless as being able to have her stories published!! One publisher however takes a liking to a story that Emma has written and he writes her a letter inviting her to come to New York so he can talk to her. The rest of the story from there is exciting and breathtaking!! Will Emma Stolfuz turn to the englisher world- or will she quit writing to keep from being shunned by her own family members?? Does Grant Weaver find his way back to Emma- or is she falling in love with Tyler West the publisher from New York?? This book is one of the very best Amish books I have ever read- I got caught up on the first couple of pages- and I didnt want to put the book down- nor did I want the story to end!!! In Adina Senft style- this is defintely a 5 star book!!! Now I can hardly wait to read The Tempted Soul- a sequel to The Hidden Life!!!

I found this book captivating. We are in the heroine’s mind, wrestling with her emotions, reasoning with her biblical training, & being reminded of the joys and perils of romance. I thought it a very accurate portrayal of Amish theology, though I am not Amish & wouldn’t know for sure. But it helped me to know why Amish make the decisions they do. The author does an amazing job with the emotional ups and downs of an outside who is single but wants to be married. Truly authentic & a great read.

I loved how Emma's Mum is there for her even with her needing care I think if i had Karen for a sister i would have told her to poke out i guess that why i would never be a Good Amish Woman lol

The storyline & that Emma ha wrote a novel makes you want to read it & i like Tyler in this even if he is an Englisher yet some of the Amish Men are not so nice as him

If you get a chance to read this book do so i got it because it was on a special at the time i am so pleased i did well worth it
