This is the second book in this series and they should be read in order. I have read the first one but I read it about a year ago and couldn’t really remember all of it. I was confused when I first started to read this book but it slowly came back to me. Xandra has lost her flames and now only has her soul mates. She is grieving but must continue. She decides to go back to school as a way of starting over but soon learns it’s not that simple. The descendants of Arcos are everywhere. She can’t out run her past or destiny. She learns more about Arcos and is forced to make a decision but will it be the right one? You get more answers in this book and learn more about everything going on but are still left wondering about some things. Xandra has been through so much and while she does kind of catch a break in this by meeting Darius at the same time you get more questions. Xandra has sould mates who always seem to be there when she needs them. While some of the things they have to do don’t always seem in her best interest they must be done. I love her dog. I think it would be best to read these books one right after the other since they are all out now. I have the third book and will be starting right away. I am interested in reading how everything pans out in the third book.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.
Hidden Souls had a huge cliffhanger that may have caused chaos in my mind. I could not wait to get some resolution to the first book. I did not get that. Left again with a cliffhanger and saying WTF out loud.
Xandra planned to leave what was her town behind. To never return to he haunted by who she lost. Her soul mate. This part can be confusing. This is a struggle against the good and the bad people. All Xandra's mission is to protect the ones she loves and keep the peace. It was rough for her. I felt more in touch with Xandra in this book than the first. Only because she lives a life no other person can handle. Strength is not a strong enough word to explain who she is.
So many people in this book. Darius is one you will fall in love with. Just a great guy that loves unconditionally. Despite the havoc of Xandra's life. Loyal thru the entire book. I am rooting for him on the HEA.
Some of the bad guys show back up and makes Xandra's life a nightmare once again. But that is what makes a book interesting! There was action till the last page. I know the fallout and ending will come in the next book, but I wish there were many more books. So much happens and I need resolution for every character!
I rate the book a 4.7 out of 5. Could not stop reading and had my life on hold for 5 hours. Could not put this book down. Descendants of Arcos is the book I always enjoy to read the most. JP did a fantastic job evolving characters to be so much more.
I have been waiting for this book to come out for so long. I really loved the first book in this series and I was not disappointed in this book. You do have to read these books in order so if you have not read the first one, stop reading this review and go get it. You will be lost and nothing will make sense if you don't read Resurrection of Sin.
This book picks up where the last book ended. Xandra has taken off for Colorado and is trying to get her life back under control after the disaster in Groverton. As soon as she gets to CSU she runs into another soul and everything gets sideways again. She meets Walter and Darius, as well as a few other people. She realizes that she recognizes their souls and tries to do everything she can to save them. Darius is pretty great and falls for Xandra immediately. Normally this would annoy me in a book but I understand why it is happening here.
I don't want to give too much away so I will not go too deep into the plot. I am not going to lie, I did need to go back and reread the end of the first book so that I could refresh my memory. I am giving this book 4.6 stars out of 5. It is really good and I can't wait for more.
It' s an ungrateful job to describe this story in a few sentences, cause it s a huge wirlwind of a cluster events that i cant simply say-yeah, this and this happened cause you know, there are things that you dont know, cause you cant know about them cause if i told you then you d be like "what in the world are you talking about" so you see, i am in a twisty mess of my own!
Book 2 continues at the exact place the book 1 ended - Detective Xandra Kellan is running away from the turmoils of discoveries about herself, her past, present and unstable future...leaving behind her is a devastation, a hearbreak, a destiny she can't yet cope with...
Xandra makes another U turn by going back to college...a total cut back from the pain, mixed confusing prophecy, her mission, her reincarnated destiny that keeps in her tracks never leaving her alone...cause she cant escape from herself.
The destiny comes clear when she encounters Darius Jones, a 23 year old student, a popular jock, an unlikely young man that would ever be anything more than an attraction/distraction...but the ancient reincarnation prophecy is her destiny, she s a queen and he's a descendant of Arcos...
"The last person I 'd expect to come into my life, was the exact person I needed all along.... "
As it s inevitable to escape yourself, the very known evil will barge in again, mercilessly, with the same lingering intent of possesion and devastation...Xandra will once again have a choice to make...maybe the most drastic one...as she s the one...
"Yes, you are the defender of mankind."
Again *deep sigh* as i am still not 100% in the clear...First of all I admire J.P. UVALLE for the endless imagination...
Jesus, oh mighty, i had an honor to be in your world for a few hours and i feel stunned, shocked and confused, overwhelmed and captivated...And i still am...
Absolutely amazing amount of detaily worked out imaginative world of fantasy.
BUT this time, i had difficulties connecting to/with the characters...their instant connection never really "got" me, i wasn't swept away with them until maybe a little after 60% of the book...
it felt "unreal"in an "unreal world" so it s a double "unreal" *shrughs*
But as you pulled me into the turmoil of constant action, devious ploy, bursting carnal passion, I wont deny that i stopped thinking about "not connecting" with the characters cause i was indeed ALL IN, following the story.
So, i m in between 3.75-4 stars cause even though i liked it, i needed that "connection" to completely LOVE it.
