The brilliant Knox is very readable. His insights are superb and masterfully presented. Spiritual truths presented clearly. Read particularly his essay on Miracles. You will not regret reading this book.

I haven't found anything except one little booklet by Monsignor Ronald Knox that I didn't like. The Hidden Stream, in my opinion is one of his many great books. I really enjoyed (and will keep enjoying, as I read these beauties more than once) the great apologetics done in a most scholarly manner. It harkens back to the clear use of clasical reasoning for proof points, and I find it most encouraging and a consolation from the world of endless banter of propoganda that we usually encounter on religious subjects. I'd advise anyone to try this or others of his books on Catholic/ Christianity and see what you think. This is is one sharp dude. Take a look at his BIO and you'll see what I mean...and lo and behold, he can be a witty little devil when he wants. He is a warm and very understanding priest whom I'll never forget.

This is much different than than the Raymond Chandler or Michael Connelly style, but it's a good read and a window into a time long past.

This is a great exposition of the Roman Catholic Church's doctrine over a series of 23 homilies: examples include "the Four Marks of the Church" and "the Christian Notion of Marriage." Msgr. Knox (1888-1957) is the son of an Anglican Bishop, converted to Catholicism, and was the Catholic chaplain for Oxford University. His writing style is both witty and compelling.
