Cali arrives home to take over at the office at the family owned business while her father recovers from injuries suffered in an accident to find out that not only have there been sabotage attempts concerning the company but there have also been threats to her father's life.
Security specialists (and brothers) Matthew and Jason Andersen have been hired to enhance security for both the company and the Stanton home. The investigation is in progress, plans have been made to get the deliveries made without further hitches; what about the immediate and strong attraction Cali and Matthew feel towards each other. Romantic involvement between an employer and employee can be...ticklish to say the least.
Sherri Hayes is now anxiously waiting to start editing her second novel, Slave, and has begun writing her third novel, Behind Closed Doors, also a suspense romance .
As head of security, Matthew Andersen’s responsibilities include Cali’s safety. He informs her of the recent shipment thefts and threats to the company. When the threats turn personal against Cali, he keeps her closer, then finds it impossible to guard his heart.
Ms. Hayes creates a strong supporting cast to complete this classic falling-for-the-boss’- daughter tale.
Cali, she is a doctor working in Africa, she has a big heart and simply loves her job. She is dedicated and loyal and when she gets a call that her father had an accident back home, she flies in to help with his company while he recovers. Cali has a lot to learn in the corporate world but with the help of a good assistant and support team she is hopeful that she will make the right decisions and while her father is away. Her main concerns are the threats her fathers company is receiving and the handsome head of security, Matthew Andersen. How is it that she is drawn to him?
The chemistry between that two is palpable and you can't help but yell at them. Kiss her dammit! He feels the same! Stop pretending you don't see it and feel it! All things I yelled at my kindle as i read. The connection is so good that it frustrated me in a very good way. The story picks and suspense builds and build and eventually...BOOM! Secrets are revealed!
The story takes us on suspenseful and dramatic journey, the excitement of the climax is worth the read. You will want more of the Andersen brothers!
I liked both Cali and Matthew along with his brother and other characters. Despite Matthews tough façade, he is captured by Cali, both physically and mentally. The feelings are mutual for Cali. Even though there "relationship" is a large part of the story, what the main portion of the book is about who is trying to take down Cali and the business.
The ending of the book was interesting. I was thinking those characters had a part in why Cali was being targeted. But you don't know for sure until it was rolled out why they wanted her gone.
Happy ending for me. So it was a light read for me and enjoyed having a book that is not all in your face, unnecessary rough sex scenes.
My rating for the book would be a 4.4.
