And even though it's the first in a series, it's not one of those books that leaves you hanging at the end. The epilogue does give you a sneak peek into the next book, but this story is wrapped up completely so you don't feel cheated like some "series" that are really "serials."
I am a big fan of Lisa Ladew's books. This series is a darker read than "The Edge of Heat" series and it absolutely measures up to what I have come to expect from her. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys drama, suspense, danger and romance all wrapped up in one place. Having read the second book as well, before posting this review I can say with absolute certainty that Ladew delivers an awesome psychological thriller within this series.
I feel so cheated that I am rating this down from 4 star to 1 star and I won't buy the next story.
Note to author - this is a really lousy rotten trick to pull on your readers! Yes, the book is part of a series, but each book should have it's own conclusion, NOT a cliffhanger ending, especially when you trick people into reading a so-called epilogue. Have a look at all the complaints on books with cliffhanger endings.
