Inspirational thriller /romantic suspense, humor!!

H.L. Wegley' books have it all! From the beginning of the series to the end, these books are action-packed, full of suspense, with some clean romance and humor to lighten the mood! It is best to read this series in order to get the full impact. I was able to read them one after the other, and really enjoyed getting to know the characters. I felt like I was there with them in the thick of things! The author's books are clear, well-written, fast-paced...very descriptive without being boring! Excitement and suspense keep you turning pages as fast as you can read!
Hide and Seek introduces us to Lee Brandt and Jennifer Akiharaho determine there is a computer security breach and they must run for their lives! This book is based in Washington state and the author is very familiar with the caves where the two were able to get ahead of their pursuers for awhile.
The author used his personal knowledge as in intelligence analyst to keep everything very realistic. I thoroughly enjoyed this clean, action-packed, romantic thriller! And enjoyed the entire Pure Genius series as well!

I very much appreciate Christianity plainly spoken in this book. It's great that salvation is explained clearly. Also the main characters as real people committed to purity until marriage is refreshing. Its a good adventure with nice clean sweet romance included. I would recommend this book to everyone.

This book was one to keep you turning the page. It was interesting how everything came together. You had to concentrate reading this because it was so involved but worth the read. I would suggest this to anyone and I am waiting for the rest to follow. I hope the next one comes out soon. I was not familiar with this author but he did a good job.

Good Suspense, Good Read

It's a minor security breach at National Aerospace in Washington state, but one that must be investigated: a single classified document left in a printer by a foreign national employee who shouldn't have had access in the first place. Lee Brandt gets the assignment: investigate over the weekend and report on Monday. Lee checks the company laptop assigned to the foreign national, who has departed the country. There he finds Trojan horse malware that he can't decipher. So he calls his former professor, who provides Jennifer Akihara, a computer genius who has worked for both the FBI and NSA.
Jennifer not only deciphers the Trojan horse, but finds that it leads to terrorist contacts outside the United States. Unfortunately, she disables the Trojan. So when she and Lee leave the building, they are marked for death by waiting terrorists. The terrorists bomb Lee's car and give chase when Lee and Jennifer try to escape in hers. The chase forces the pair away from possible help into the mountains of the Washington countryside. There Lee's boyhood knowledge of a mountain and its caves gives him temporary advantage over the terrorists. From that point in the narrative, the author's detailed knowledge of caves and spelunking provides a chill-packed account of his hero and heroine's attempts to escape their pursuers, resulting in a thrilling climax and a resolution very different from any I've encountered in suspense novels.
But interest is not limited to details of suspense, for the contrast of hero and heroine leads to built-in conflicts. He is a Christian who gave up the dating game years ago. She is a strikingly beautiful agnostic repelled by male responses to her beauty rather than to her character and talents. Their contrasting viewpoints precipitate delightful discussions that go both broader and deeper than those of the usual CBA novel.
The book is also aided by the author's personal acquaintance with industrial problems such as outsourcing, and he shows good knowledge of real-life security clearances and procedures as well as intimate knowledge of computers. He is able to explain these complex subjects in terms that the ordinary layman can understand. These qualities and the quickly moving narrative maintain high interest throughout the novel. All in all, a very good performance in the author's debut novel.

The first snowy weekend brought an opportunity for me to curl up and read four books by H. L. Wegley of the Pure Genius Series. One benefit I gathered from reading them in order and in a short time span between the novels was to see the overarching plot carried through each separate story. Some time back while randomly surfacing an online bookstore I saw this title and author for the first time, so I wrote the man inquiring about his books. As God orchestrated it I didn’t hear immediately back from him which was good considering at that time I was trying to recuperate after eight years of caretaking.
When he contacted me, the first thing received was an apology for having taken so long, and then came the opportunity to read, review plus give you readers a chance to receive a copy of all four books free! Hide and Seek doesn’t take either time or effort to get lost in because as soon as one begins reading the first sentence the tension and suspense is already off the scale.
Lee is running up a hill with Jennifer attempting to locate a cave that would protect them from their pursuers and the multiple times they have been shot at! Lee is a man who works for a government agency in the computer department. Jennifer is currently an assistant with her Master’s degree while waiting to begin her Doctorate program. Her IQ is very high, which intimidates most people. As time goes on and the couple begins to realize how they feel toward each other, Lee knows that above all Jennifer needs to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
The audience is going to love how the espionage takes center stage, with danger constantly on the heels of Lee and Jennifer plus the way that Lee shares about the Lord with Jennifer, discovering how best to communicate a simple, profound truth to a person with an Einstein IQ. How is the couple going to draw their pursuers out into the open plus stop terrorists from stealing valuable secret information from the government?
