Banks is one of my favorite heroines from Penelope Douglas. She is so strong even though she's been through so much and I loved how she fit in with the guys and had the respect of men twice her size.
Kai was such an interesting character and I loved that we really got to see inside his head. It's always interesting when you get to see things from a different character's perspective because it changes the way you looked at things previously. I also loved that we got to know a bit about his culture and his family (though I would've loved to read a scene where Kai actually sits down and talks to his dad about everything that transpired in the last 4 years).
I thought that Kai and Banks were perfect for each other. They had such a strong connection from one memory they had of each other but in some ways I felt their bond more than I felt Michael and Rika's who knew each other since infancy. They understood each other, and felt comfortable enough to be who they really were without judgement in front of each other and that's really important. I honestly wish I could read 1000 more pages of their domestic (or not so domestic life) because I loved them so much.
I also loved that even though this was Kai and Banks story we still go to see what was going on with everyone else. It was great to see Rika and Michael and I loved that Penelope didn't just make Rika this amazing fighter overnight. We got to see her struggle and train and try to figure out where her head was at after everything. But the real person I loved hearing about, was Damon.
I seriously wanted to cry every time Banks talked about him! In Corrupt I was intrigued by him but wary. But after reading Hideaway I think he is my favorite horsemen and possibly my favorite male character by this author and I haven't even read this book yet! He is so complicated and broken and just...messed up. It breaks my heart learning what his and Banks life was like and it makes sooo much sense when you look at the way Damon turned out. Do I think he can be redeemed? Honestly, I'm still not sure. But I think it'll be interesting to see what Penelope does with him in his book.
This book was amazing and definitely one of Penelope's best. I can't wait for Killswitch and I'd highly recommend this book to all fan of this author and romance (with a little darkness)!!
Kai and Banks have a six year history. Having met Banks before in a confession box and confessing his sin to her, he feels connected to her in more ways than one. When their paths cross on a Devils Night, she is forced to pick Damon or Kai and she picks Damon. Kai cannot understand what the connection is to him. He never forgets her. In the book Corrupt we saw a different side of Damon and he went into hiding for his sins. Now in Hideaway, they realise that Damon is closer than they think, but they need to draw him out of hiding. They approach Damon’s’ father, Gabriel, and that is when a contract is entered into. Gabriel sends his assistant to oversee the contract. The assistant happens to be Banks. Kai is shocked but excited to have her near him. Banks was a firecracker who has lived her life hiding the true beauty she is. She wears men’s clothes and hides her womanly body. She never gives up on Damon and the love she has for him. Kai feels jealousy for the loyalty she shows Damon. They all know Damon is dangerous and is playing a deadly game. How can Kai engage with Damon and get him to come out of hiding so they can negotiate the terms. Can Kai show Banks his true feelings for her, or will he continue to keep her in the dark and keep her scared? Can Banks explain her loyalty about Damon to Kai? Will she ever let go of the hold he has on her to give Kai a chance? This book has plenty of suspense and lots of plot twists. The romance between Banks and Kai was not an easy one to understand and at times I felt like it was a bit forced. However I did enjoy the story as the puzzle starts to unfold. I am looking forward to Damon’s story.

Kai and Banks love story is a shadowy journey of many twists and turns. If I didn't already love Kai, this book would've done it. His desire for Banks from the moment he first speaks to her is endearing. Banks has fought to survive for most of her life by trying to remain the same and protect her brother. Her strength is inspiring, yet somewhat heartbreaking.
Both share many of the same characteristics; loyalty, protectiveness, and passion to name a few. When they are reunited several years after their first encounter on Devil's Night, it's plain to see that feelings are still strong between them. While Kai is trying to figure out and navigate the next part of his life, Banks is still stuck in limbo, but also trying to figure out what's next.
With the help of the Horsemen, Rika and Alex the two find their way back to one another. Kai and Banks are exactly what each other needs. She will help him learn to forgive himself for his past, while he will bring her out of the shadows she's existed in. They both offer freedom.
After reading Corrupt, I knew two things; Kai is my favorite and I need to know all the Horsemen's stories. Kill Switch (Devil's Night #3) will release sometime in 2018. This is Damon's story. Can't wait to see how he may/may not find redemption....
Penelope Douglas has created yet another winner. She gets better with every story!
