This is the true story of a home full of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, beginning at the age of 4. It was hell, disguised and hidden behind Christianity. This book tells the story of innocence taken away by the devil himself. I was adopted by a United Methodist pastor who was also a child pedophile. He repeatedly and viciously molested his own children. I was raped well over 500 times during my childhood, beaten on a regular basis by my brother, and forced to live with my rapist until I was able to move out of the home the spring of 1990. I write this book in hope that each of you may be able to recognize some of these signs of abuse in another child and subsequently find the courage to reach out and help. Maybe such acts of kindness and concern will amount to nothing, or maybe you just might save a soul from destruction and despair.

It is so very hard to accept that someone in this family would not stand up and help the children. The wife is unconscionable. No way could anyone believe that she did not know what was going on under her own roof.
By not standing up for the innocent, we are all guilty. Doctors, school systems, relatives, and most especially the Clergy. Where are our children safe?
I highly recommend this book and purchased additional copies to gift others who are in the trenches with the aftermath of this behavior on a daily basis.
Bless Louise for finding the voice to tell her story, and pray that Hiding Behind the Cloth - Memoirs of an Innocent Child leads to many others receiving the help Louise and the other children in this home were denied.
