I got the first book in this series as a free download which I loved and prompted me to buy the series. I am now done with the second book, Killer in High Heels. Love the stories. Maddie is a great charachter. Funny, flighty entertaining to read. Suspend any realism and just enjoy the fun and crazy antics. The tension between Maddie and Ramirez is incredible and I am picturing Ramirez in my mind. I can easily see these being made into a movie but would probably be butchered the way they did with the Shopaholic movie. Great book, mediocre movie.

These remind me of either the Shopaholic series or a Marian Keyes style book. I cant wait to start the next one and will be buying volume 2 when I am done with these. The worst part about the book is I dont want it to end.

I typically read mysteries, thrillers, legal/hard boiled detective novels but whenever I need a break I come to Amazon and look for what I call "fluff books." Meaning the stories are sweet, light, easy to read and don't give you any major moral issues or serious national disasters to consider. The High Heels mysteries are exactly what I was looking for and I read the whole boxed set during my beach vacation this year. Cute characters with funny personalities and endings that tend to be tied with a bow are what you will find. Don't go looking for Jane Eyre or Crime and Punishment, read these books with the knowledge that they are good fun, not taxing on the mind!

The High Heels Mysteries boxed set is a fun & fast read. Likable characters, humor & mystery in a nice blend. You can get details from other reviewers, from me you'll just get that I enjoyed all three books.

I thoroughly enjoyed the exploits of Maddie Springer and her friends and family: Dana, Marco, Mom, Faux Dad, Mrs. R., and Detective Ramirez.

The stories are light and fun. If you're looking for realistic, you won't like the High Heels Mysteries. If you're looking for characters you can root for and actually like, this is the series for you. One thing I find most refreshing is Gemma Halliday's eluding to sex without having to give us a play by play. This is something I see far too much of in other stories and there is enough of a tease in these stories to give the reader what they need without making one feel like they are a voyeur.

I look forward to continue reading the adventures of Maddie, Ramirez, and everyone else.

I abandon few books. Halfway through the second book in this set, I'm about to do so. Maddie is a heroine only her mother can possibly love. I don't know what Ramirez sees in her. She is ditzy, self-involved, and never gains a real ounce despite her daily over-eating fast-food binges. A REAL woman would put on pounds by the end of one of these stories! She interferes in police business, stays loyal to people who don't deserve her loyalty, has an inflated sense of her importance to solving the 'crimes' and drives me nuts. There's no real depth to her character that I can discern. Granted, these books are supposed to be goofy, but the focus on shoes, make-up, clothes, and food is ridiculous. I hadn't made the connection to the Stephanie Plum books, but there is a slight resemblance, and not a well-done one. As other reviewers have pointed out, Maddie doesn't learn from her mistakes. I have. I won't be finishing this boxed set, or buying anymore High Heels mysteries.

'High Heels Mystery' boxed set, book 1-3 were great. Each book has a great storyline. The way they play out are full of mystery, hilarious scenes and dialog, plus some great characters. Maddie is an accident waiting to happen. And when you throw her friends in, you know it's going to be funny. I can't wait to read more. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended.

I can't remember how much I paid for this, but it was extremely cheap. It wasn't the world's best writing (there were some typos too so not the worlds best editing either) but it was pretty entertaining! It made me want to keep reading more, mostly due to the blossoming relationship between the two main characters. Like I said, I've read better, but for the price I bought the next set also!

Spying in High Heels is the first in a series of "High Heel Mysteries" which chronicle the life of a Los Angeles Fashionista, Maddie Springer. Maddie likes all things fashion, especially shoes. After studying fashion design at college but failing to make it big in the fashion industry in L.A. she makes a living by designing children's shoes.

Another thing about Maddie is that she is a serial late-comer and when she turns up late for a lunchtime date with her lawyer boyfriend, Richard, she suddenly finds herself unwittingly caught up in a sequence of events which lead to string of murders and a $20 million fraud. Then Richard disappears and whilst she is looking for clues to his whereabouts she stumbles into dangerously handsome LAPD detective Ramires who is also interested in finding her beau. Then the romp begins.

This is a light, easy read with humorous and zany characters. It is not very long, so is a quick read at 250 pages. The dialogue is sharp and whilst the events seem a little far fetched, it is a fun and frivolous tale. I will definitely be reading more in this series.
