“A concise introduction to IPOs for the uninitiated, this book is also an excellent resource for finance professors wishing to supplement investment textbooks that touch only briefly on the IPO process, professionals at the outset of their careers who contemplate moving into IPO investing, and owners of new businesses.”-Reviewed by Ronald L. Moy, CFA, for CFA Institute
From the Inside Flap
Typically generating a great deal of interest, excitement, and volatility, initial public offerings (IPOs) provide investors and traders with excellent opportunities for both short- and long-term profits. Nobody understands this better than author Tom Taulli. As an IPO expert involved in the financial markets for over fifteen years, he knows what it takes to make it in this field, and now, with the Third Edition of High-Profit IPO Strategies, he returns to share his extensive experiences with you.
While the past decade has seen two recessions and a serious financial crisis, there have still been standout public offerings, such as Google or Salesforce.com. And many of the top deals were not necessarily tech companies either. Just look at the IPOs of Chipotle and Buffalo Wild Wings. In the Third Edition of High-Profit IPO Strategies, Taulli skillfully details the essential elements of IPO investing and trading, and puts you in a better position to find companies like these—companies that are poised to prosper.
Fully updated and expanded to reflect today's dynamic IPO market, this reliable resource outlines the strategies you'll need to succeed within it and offers valuable insights on developing the patience and discipline to effectively navigate the uncertainties that come with the territory.
Divided into four comprehensive parts, the Third Edition of High-Profit IPO Strategies:
- Opens by addressing the fundamentals you need to be familiar with—from how the IPO process works to the various ways to get shares
- Digs deep into the issues of research, risk, and strategies—from utilizing online resources like EDGAR and RetailRoadshow and making sense of the prospectus to spotting potential risk factors and implementing strategies that can be applied across numerous industries
- Covers the many sectors of the IPO market, including tech, biotech, financial services, retailers, energy operators, and real estate investment trusts (REITs)
- Looks at specialized transactions such as spin-offs and fad IPOs, and discusses areas of emerging interest like secondary markets
Comprehensive in scope, the Third Edition of High-Profit IPO Strategies is a proven guide that will allow investors and traders to turn the potential of IPOs into profits.

The book covers a lot of basic stuff but the chapters covering prospectus is very helpful.
As an IPO researcher, I had to figure out on my own. I wish I had read this book before which would have
saved me some time.
For those interested in IPOs, I highly recommend reading chapters 1-5 carefully. Chapter 9-10 about risk factors and IPO investment strategies are sort of helpful.
The IPO Sector chapters a bit basic. I found chapter 19 IPO funds interesting.
Overall, still a great book to learn about IPOs. Highly recommend for those interested in learning about IPOs
