Product Description

This is a men's quality 35mm (1 3/8") wide belt made in the UK by Belt Designs with full grain Italian vegetable tanned leather. It is not made with inferior bonded or split leather. It has a rectangular brushed nickel buckle, a riveted Return which is strong and durable and five adjustment holes from the first to the last hole.

Full-grain vegetable tanned leather is desirable because of its minimal treatments, natural appearance, durability and breathability. Full-grain vegetable tanned leather is tanned with natural plant extracts and is considered among the best quality leather you can buy. It is long lasting and will develop a patina with age.

Size Guidance

Our belt measurements are taken from the 'Return' and then up to the first and last hole. The 'Return' is where the belt meets with the buckle (see diagram).

1.Measure one of your own belts from the 'Return' to the hole you fasten your belt with. Use this measurement to select one of our belts that has this measurement within its size range. Make sure that your own belt has no stretch though as any belt with elasticity will stretch when worn so the sizing would need to be longer to allow for the stretch.

2.Or measure your waist whilst wearing your pants as this should give you the correct belt size.

3.Or if you dont have a tape measure you can approximate your belt size but this will not be so accurate. Your belt size will usually need to be about one inch bigger than your actual waist size depending on the thickness of your clothing material and how tight you like to wear your belt/ clothing.

N.B. CLOTHING SIZE LABELS VARY FROM ONE MANUFACTURER TO ANOTHER THEREFORE WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING THE SIZE LABEL AS AN ACCURATE WAY OF DECIDING WHICH BELT SIZE TO BUY.

N.B. SOME PANTS LABELS DISPLAY THE WAIST SIZE BUT ACTUALLY SIT A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE WAIST LINE SO YOU MAY NEED A BELT SIZE THAT IS NEARER YOUR HIP SIZE.

I've been looking for a great leather belt since my latest $15 belt started falling apart after a year. After doing a little research, I found that full grain leather was better than top grain and genuine leather was the least of the three. I honestly would have bought one from saddleback, but they were 11/2 inch wide and that's a little to tight for my belt loops. Not to mention they were $93! I just got the belt today and noticed it had " Real Leather" stamped inside...... I thought maybe real leather was the same as genuine leather I could buy at target for $25, plus their site only said high quality leather. So I shot them an E-mail thinking I would hear back in a day or two, especially with the time difference. Within an hour I got the good news! 100% Full grain Italian Leather! Italian Butts no less! They went on to say that in the UK they do not mark their belts Full grain, Top grain, etc.....I thought maybe they had dropped in quality and amazon didn't update the description, but that was not the case. So at this price it's a steal, I'll probably get the black one too.
About the sizing, I used the chart above, at first I couldn't find it, It's at the top where the pictures of the belt are.The size chart is the bottom pic. I used a tape measure to measure the hole I was using on my old belt, and it was dead on. Make sure you do this before you just go and order the next size up. Had I did that, I'd be punching holes in my new belt.
This belt should last a lifetime, and I'm pretty sure it will, I'll update if I find any issues though.

A belt usually for me consists of: go to store, look at rack, find brown one, does it fit? ok.

I'm a big guy. I'm not as big as I used to be, but I'm still at the far end of 'can easily find a belt'. Recently I noticed that my belts don't really last, and I'm buying new ones a lot. I started looking into how belts are made and realized what I thought was leather was really 'some kind of nylon thing with leather chips sprayed on'. Within months of buying the 'leather' would flake at the buckle point, and start to look awful.

When you're a fat boy, you tend to worry people will notice your belt is falling apart at it's buckle point like some poor thing being restrained greatly so much so that it's failing.

So I decided to look around for a full true leather belt, and I found this one.

I've only had the opportunity to wear a couple times. I will be updating the review as time passes, but just my initial 'put it on after it came in the mail' response is this is excellent. It reminds me of a nice belt i had once but could never find again when the buckle on it broke. I am very interested in the longevity of it, but initial look/feel is very positive and I'm quite happy with it.

This is a very high quality belt, well worth the money. High quality leather and metal used for the buckle. It is carefully packaged in bubble wrap and then placed in it's own individually sized cardboard carton. The photo is true to the color and form you can expect. I would recommend you carefully consider the sizing appropriate for you. I originally purchased the 38-42 with my 38-40" waist but ended up returning it and ordering the 42-46 instead. It fits great on the 2nd to last notch farthest from the end of the belt. Now if only Belt Designs UK would list this item from their Amazon UK store on the Amazon US side I would purchase it as well. http://www.amazon.co.uk/46-50-Black-Quality-Leather-Belt/dp/B00EG7AIZA

So far the belt is problem free. It's well constructed and good looking. The color in person matches the picture. My one word of warning for US customers is that it is true to size. If you wear a '32' in American brands, a size small belt will just fit in the 1st or 2nd hole. If you prefer more tab on the end (and most do), size up to a medium.

Ok, I read through all the reviews, and ordered a M, as I'm a real 34" waist. When I got it, it seemed too short, so I returned it and ordered a L. Somehow, a M was placed in my cart, and I failed to notice, so I got sent another one. I ordered a L, this time ensuring that was what I was going to get. When it arrived, I sized both belts and ended up going with the M.

All of my pants are 34" waist, I use the 3rd (middle) hole in this M belt. To me, this is perfect size. If you wear a 35, you could use this belt on the second hole. If you are a 36, I would recommend you get the L, you will use the last or next to last hole.

Around my waist, the L went to the last hole, and was at least 1" too long. I could have elected to punch another hole, but then the end of the belt runs too long, and if I were to trim it, then the holes would go almost to the end of the belt. But if I'm going to do that, then why even bother getting a nice belt?

What a rigmarole! But, in the end, I did end up with a very nice belt.

After going to multiple department stores at the mall, I left frustrated. My reversible belt lost one of it's tiny buckle set screws after tightening it several times, and I didn't want to go back down that road. I was just looking for a plain, honest leather belt.

What I found was a bunch of over priced strips of bonded "leather" (the particle board of leather) already fragmenting at the edges, and vinyl masquerading as leather. They were all stamped with big brand names that should be embarrassed.

So I went home and found this; an honest, well finished piece of leather with holes on one end and a buckle on the other. The flesh side is smooth and glazed to prevent fuzzing, and the color is consistent. The width is perfect for jeans, khakis or as a thick dress belt. It's made in the UK, so you know it's pretty sweatshop-free.

I like it so much, I'll probably buy a black one too and not have to think about my belt situation for the next decade.

Edit: I came back to buy a second in black- great belt!
