Just Okay. Kind of Flimsy.

I wanted a wastebasket for my car because, since the start of Covid, I've needed a place to contain used gloves and masks rather than having them strewn all over my passenger side floor mat. Not only has my normally pristine car looked a mess with discarded PPE, but I was worried about such debris contaminating everything it touched. I spent weeks searching on Amazon and elsewhere for what I though was the best trash can option, and finally ordered this one. Many reviews had mentioned that there is a zippered pocket to hold an included weighted bag that supposedly keeps this from tipping over, but this product must have been redesigned since those reviews, because the one I received is different than they described. There is no zippered compartment, and the included weight is actually just a thin metal plate that you insert into the bottom of the bin, and then you install your removeable trash bag over that. You can see this thin plate in the product photos. As others have described, the sides are not rigid so this tends to fold up on itself instead of staying open and ready to receive trash. I folded the included cover open against the outside of the bin, but there is nothing to secure it there. The manufacture should have designed in a small piece of Velcro or a magnet to keep the open cover in place against the side of the bin. On my very first outing with this installed, it tipped over when I made a turn. To help remedy this, I found a heavy flat rock that I wrapped in a clean piece of plastic, and I inserted it into the bottom of the trash can as well, along with the included metal plate. Having to do this takes up a good two inches of room at the bottom though. The included 'leak proof' liner, seems like good quality and like it actually will be leak proof, but the trash can itself seems like not great quality so I'm not sure how long it may last. Overall, this is trash can is just okay and is better than nothing. It does hold the trash I intended it for, and once you fold the lid back to an open position the tacky logo on the lid is hidden. Once you do this, it becomes all black in color except for the gray colored liner, so it becomes more discrete and less of an eyesore than with its lid closed, or than most of the other trash cans available. I have other High Road brand pieces in my car that I love but this one is just okay. With the sales tax included, the cost totalled just under $20.00, which I feel is way overpriced given the overall quality and design. I think it's worth about $12.00 or $13.00 at most, and not the $18.00 plus tax I paid for it. I got the larger, 2-gallon size, and if it were better constructed and less cheap looking, I could have loved it.

I've had a few trash bins over the years and got this one in 2016. For some reason, last year I got a Drive Auto Products bin for my other car, and its not nearly as nice.

The Drive Auto Products bin is larger, and has some more storage pouches on the side which I don't use. It also has a strap which is annoying if you don't use it, but it allows you to hang it over a headrest if you want too. Also, it needs bags to be considered completely liquid tight. It comes with bags, and uses grocery bags in a pinch (and it has pinchers to hold the bag) but...

All that isn't necessary with the High Road Organizers trash bin. It's weighted really well. As long as nothing heavy is in it like a full cup of coffee or a gallon of liquid, it wont top over because the weight is about a pound (half a kg) and it has great traction grips on the bottom. It is completely liquid tight, and easy to clean. I had a spill in it once and just rinsed it.

The lid is the real stand-out from the Drive Auto Products bin, which has a very flimsy lid. The High Road has a semi-rigid lid that blindly lines up the velcro, making it easy to open and close without looking at it, nice while you are in motion.

Lastly, the fabric itself is excellent. It's double stitched and clearly some thought was put into the materials on the outside. It doesn't seem to collect salty water and looks significantly better than the much newer and less used Drive Auto Products bin, which is gray and shows dirt.

Overall well worth ~$15. It pays for itself easily after preventing one spill, something that can easily set you back $50 at a car detailer.

This litter bag is made of ballistic nylon and has Velcro patches to keep the top cover latched and also to help keep it in position on a carpeted car floor.

Straight out of the box It stood up and did not fold in on itself, nor did it fall over. Adding the weighted 'bean bag' into the zippered pouch on the underside makes it feel very substantial.

I placed it on the floor of my 2014 Ford Fusion and it is a perfect fit. I am quite pleased with it. I do not generate a lot of trash in my cars, usually just used Kleenex and maybe a wrapper or two from something small. And the occasional soda pop can. So this XL size is far more than I will most likely ever have a need for.

I have weather resistant liners in my car, kids organizers on the seat backs, and a very large center console, so the regular trash cans with velcro straps wouldn't work. This was the only one I could find that seemed like it might work for me. I am so glad I chose it. It is weighted so it doesn't tip (unless my kids kick it over) and the lid flips down nicely to stay closed. It is large enough to fit a couple of water bottles and other trash. I haven't had any leaks either. Works great!

Sturdy, weighted, perfect sized auto trash bin!! After searching for three days online for the most suitable trash container for my 2016 Town & Country MiniVan, I purchased the large sized High Road leak proof and weighted trash bin, and I am TOTALLY pleased with the quality and size. Having read the reviews prior to my purchase, I was aware of the complaint that the container folded in on itself and, so, took the advice of one or two of the consumers and inserted two of the cardboard flaps from the Amazon box up into the sides of the container...so easy and a perfect solution! The container stands up perfectly and with the supplied weight pouch and velcro on the bottom, I should be good to go, unexpected curves and all! Keep in mind that, while this may be a good size for my needs, it is still a small container, not meant for HUGE amounts of trash...but, for the auto, it is more than large enough. A 4 gallon trash bag slips right in with ample left over to go over the sides to secure it in place. I totally recommend this product!!
