I have been using this product for quite some time to boot up into Ubuntu. The intention was to set up RAID 5. I could not get the GUI system to work so used line commands to initialize the RAID 5. I could get the RAID array to initialize and accept files. After reboot it was a 50/50 chance as to whether the array would be readable or not. After a moderate amount of effort I gave up on that and now just use it to provide good, fast SATA 3 connections. I could never get help from product support, and the website, though simple and well organized, did not provide the information needed.

POS:
Fast - 3x seagate 2tb 6gb hard drives in a raid 5 give me min150/max 320 mb/s. 2 of the same drives in a raid 0 go over 400.
Supports old highpoint raid configurations (i had a previous raid 5 1tb x5 on a highpoint 2320 and it was detected and functioned normally)
sff-8087 - very nice cable management

COS:
Slow - SLOW and even more slow int times. 27 hours and counting on a 3x 2tb raid 5 array. foreground initialization (so i cant use it).
cables - not included
buggy - the raids bios does not allow you to create arrays. even though there are options to. any array type, size or configuration will result in a "error no any disk available" (including the translated English).
head - the heat sink on the card will burn you.

OS Support:
vmware esxi - support is a joke. haven't tested in a real linux os.
osx - says it supports it, it doesnt.
windows - i hate the web based software, but when it works, it works very well. times out ALOT.

bottom line, buy this if your going to use ssd's, 6gb hard drives, AND windows. I would purchase again. I am used to highpoint's way of doing things.

For an entry/mid range controller it is working without issue, note even one bit of trouble, and is straight forward.

I got the 2720 to run a couple of highpoint 16x4 port multipliers. I got this one because the multipliers were inside the case, so I wanted the ports inside the case. Highpont has decided that no one would ever put a port multiplier inside a case, so they turn the feature off for the inside ports. But they don't document this anywhere. They use the same bios, the same drivers. But they have decided to actively turn the mux support off... not sure why.

My application is atypical, but I would expect a clearer compatibility guide. The supported controllers are mentioned as examples, not as the *only* cards that work. Some more careful wording would have made me ask the correct questions earlier in the process.

NOT A PCIE CARD.
THIS IS NOT A CARD AT ALL

I ordered this twice, and both times I received a Mini-SAS to 4x SATA cable, not a card. Despite the reviews, description, and pictures all saying that this is a card, this is NOT A CARD.
