And ok if I'm honest I felt a lil cheated we missed their wedding night ...
I know 1st hand all ABOUT sex driven stories, right or wrong ? I've read way too many, honestly more than I want at times, O Hey I LOVES Me a GOOD sex scene!! But in a time and place that makes sense in the story that's been built up to that is well written and fun and with slow build that makes it even more fun and exciting.... When it truly makes sense to the story and is true to the characters it's Hot and sexy and a good time for all, and a Good /great story that just happens to have sex it's Great !!! If the story is good enough you'll never really miss the sex, but as I very sadly know, sex is never good enough to make up for a story that is lacking Or non-existent been there regretted, reviewed and elected that many, many times over..... ( if only I could have ALL that money back, not sure what I'd do,but it would be Sweet)
But with Duncan and Anna I honestly didn't Need much more sex really but it felt like we'd been teased and teased for soo long about their finally getting together and then it ended on the saying of their vows and leaving the little church/Kirk , that just felt Wrong :( I felt we should have gotten just at least one more chapter with them, I mean she's almost killed, they make up their married and it's over .... Nah that just wasn't right... And on another Note unless there's gonna be a sequel I would have at least like to have seen sweet, sweet Nessa meet her potential new Beau and possible future husband ...
Great story, I appreciated all the work and effort that went into it just needed a Wee bit more...
They were right....super, unusual story, but plausible.
Take a woman who has been trained her whole life in the ways of Eastern combat, weaponry, healing arts, even how to withstand or escape captivity. Pretty helpful info when a bunch of hulking Highlanders come across you during a rescue. I don't want to spoil the story, but rest assured, it's fun when she starts taking these arrogant warriors down, one after the other. She has several confrontations with "macho" men that end up either limping away singing in high C, or flat on their backs trying to figure out how they got there! Finally, they realize she may be a real asset to their clan.....unfortunately, other clans feel the same way!
There is much turmoil in her life and you can't help but cheer her on and hoot when she drops someone to his knees. Then you learn another side of her, one she hasn't explored yet. And you hope there's that happiness for her too.
Great read!! Definitely on my top 10 list for this year!
Her initial capture and the grieving of death of her loved ones brought tears to my eyes. She reminds me of the daily battles we fight in life, some leaving us scarred, a reminder that life should not be taken for granted. She had to fight for almost everything and her purity shines through the scum threatening to overwhelm her.
My only criticism of the book is that I would have preferred Duncan to be given a meatier role such as being her partner in overcoming obstacles instead of Anna demolishing all of it on her own. After all, a true partnership is when both partners complement each other n revel in it.
Overall I enjoyed the action scenes as I am a fan of Chinese martial arts and i hope to see more of such similar genre in the future.
