Near enemy lands, Darach and his company rides upon his enemy traveling with an unconscious woman slumped over the side of a horse. He is furious that a woman has suffered and decides to rescue her.
Caitlin has been forced into a relationship with a monster by her guardian uncle. She has been beaten, drugged and slung over a horse but she hasn't lost her spunk. Darach is instantly attracted to Caitlin and oh so protective of her. Protective overbearing Darach, in a kilt mind you, is totally dreamy!
Caitlin really is what Darach needs to unlock his cold heart. He quickly realizes that he won't be able to resist her charms and tries his hardest to ignore her or forget her. Caitlin is sweet, way too naive for her own good and her ideas and actions will make you laugh out loud.
Lots and lots of steam between these two and some lovely passionate scenes. I loved this book! The best news is that Darach has four foster brothers - can't wait to continue this series with their stories!
The chemistry between Darach and Caitlin is forced upon the reader from their first meeting in a way that makes it difficult to believe that he is a man who has sworn off marriage and love. For a man that was betrayed by love he easily showers Caitlin with endearments like love and sweetling...
I wish the author would have taken more time to build the sexual tension and chemistry between the two, instead of just giving us the fast-pass to love.
I cannot wait for the release of the next book in the series - I pre-ordered it as soon as I "turned" the last page on this one.
