This book was a little different I think from how Mary Wine usually writes but there were a few sub plots that needed to be told so that the reader could have a full picture and background of the characters, and their relationships or interactions with each other. Granite the main focus was on Helen and Marcus, but there were a lot of people involved in their marriage happening, or not taking place, so the characters connection to the main couple really needed to be told and explained. It was also enjoyed and greatly appreciated when Wine took the time to tie up all the lose ends with other characters such as Katherine, Brenda, Braic and Ailis.
I loved the story and was happy to see Marcus receive a little get back from Braic after all the shenanigans he pulled when Braic and Ailis were courting and married.
Definitely check the book out for yourselves. It's a book you will enjoy and won't want to put it down.
I enjoyed both these character's in book 1 and was even more taken with them in this novel. This could easily be 5 stars except for how many times the author got the name of the book in the story. It was vixen this and vixen that got old quickly. Plus how many times they got married got to be a joke! Not even counting the kidnappings. But, I did enjoy the story line and character's so gave it 4 stars.
There is rape, off page but talked about, not the act itself but wanted readers to be aware .
There is descriptive lovemaking (within marriage) but because I was rooting for this couple to finally come together , it was full of passion for me. The romance certainly built slowly and I enjoyed the banter back and forth.
It was nice to meet up with the characters in book 1 that also brought humor for our H . in this story he got paid back for how he treated his brother and bride in book 1 that had me smiling.
We do get HEA and no cliffhanger -yea. I know when there is a series, u must read the previous book. I am torn with stating that here because there is a small back story of our two main character's in this book that u will benefit in knowing, but the author does touch on it in this book. But, in book 1 you r treated with more of the banter which I enjoyed.
As usually, not repeating the premise just what u will discover reading it. I do recommend this story (ljb)

Too many references to previous book which I couldn't finish either. Usually love Wine's books.
