"Miller makes a stunning debut with the first in her Clan Mackenzie trilogy. It's an action-packed romance full of fierce warriors, strong women, rebelling clans and secrets worth killing for. Her well-developed characters, accurate historical settings and dashing heroes will win over readers." --RT Book Reviews on Highlander Claimed

I completely adored this author's debut novel and the first book in the series titled "Highlander Claimed" and TAKEN was equally as wonderful. I loved watching Stella break out of her shell (so to speak) but most of all I simply fell head over heels for Kade. I honestly don't know how any woman in her right mind couldn't love the man, he was simply that dreamy and drool-worthy. He and Stella practically set the pages on fire with their passion and I just personally thought this book was super romantic and very touching too. And while I wasn't a big fan of "Highlander Mine" (Book 3) and have no plans to re-read it, I absolutely loved Books 1 and 2, and would happily recommend them both =)
Wilkie has two brothers, Laird Mackenzie and Kade. Kade is a fierce, handsome strong willed warrior who sees Laird Morrison's daughter Stella at the gathering. Stella, as all her sisters, has been beaten and punished into severe submission and an interesting story progress's from there, or I should say, should progress from there. The book is 379 pages long but the first person narrative of Stella burdened down the story so much with its inner dialog repeating every thought she had until the story was lost and I found myself skipping about half of the book. I don't know why writers burden their readers with such mindless dialog.
If you want to read some great books on Highland Romances and Warriors read Julie Garwood's "Ransom" "The Prize", "The Secret", "The Wedding", and her latest "Shadow Music". I reread them every few years. Also read Tracy Brogans new ,"Highland Surrender" a different style of writing than Garwoods, but good reading. If you want to read some very fine storytelling about Vikings, read Judson Robert's "The Strongbow Series". He's one of the best storytellers around.
The colorful supporting characters and the suspenseful clan conflict all provide abundant flesh to this well-formed novel. The pace is almost perfect, the descriptions of everything from manner of dress to the keep as a home stokes the reader's interest. The best part, however, is the romance and the physicality of the growing relationship. The author does a brilliant job of describing Kade's delicious methods of awakening Stella's sexuality : it is both gentle and raw, both heated and sensual , and it places the reader right there in the passionate matrimonial bed with this well-matched couple. I really enjoyed this book.
