The story starts off with Kira Bedwell receiving for her high school graduation present a tour of Scotland and instantly falling in love with the place. Kira meets by accident while visiting the castle wrath ruins on the isle of Skye, Aidan through magic being instantly smitten with him which I don’t blame her so was I. Anyway Kira grows up writing for a magazine dealing with paranormal and magical places which by the way I am a big lover of paranormal and fantasy myself. So I am glad that Ms. MacKay had small traces of a paranormal aspect in this book too. Kira has never lost her fascination with Scotland but is plagued by dreams of Aidan which Aidan from the 14th century also dreams of Kira making them both fall for each other. When Kira gets the chance to go back to Scotland she instantly jumps at the chance but when Kira gets sent back to Aidan’s time can their love be more than just fanciful dreams or is it the real thing? There is also lots of action, plot twists, other minor characters that are pretty fully developed plus the love scenes between Kira and Aidan are very hot and steamy really making me wish for a true to life highlander as well!
Yes even though this is part of a series and book two in the series it wasn’t hard to understand the story. I think what kind of dampened my zeal for the book was the ending of the book. It kind of seemed to end a little as a cliff hanger and I really don’t like stories when they end like this, plus I wasn’t ready for the story to end just yet. I never did figure out if the little girl is a descendant of Kira and Aidan or not. Maybe there is more to it than that and I will definitely have to purchase the rest in the Ravenscraig series to find out what exactly happens to everyone and figure out this. Also to read more on Tavish that I also liked his character and I hope that I can read his story next. I so wanted him to have a happy ending too. That I rated the story four stars and can recommend it!
Castle Wrath, Isle of Skye 1315, and modern day...
Kira Bedwell has a run in with Aiden MacDonald while in Scotland shortly after her 18th birthday. What makes it so special and heart-rending is that it only lasts for a few minutes....because Aiden is from the 13th century and their run in happens at the ruins of Castle Wrath, Aiden's castle. 12 years pass....12 years of them meeting in the depths of dreams. They both ache for the other. Kira gets the chance to return to Scotland through a job for the magazine she works for. She is a far-seer. Something that has been passed down through the women of her family and her ability to find things lands her the job.
I don't want to give much of the story away but I will say they find each other again and what Kira succeeds in doing is something I would love to do myself! There is someone in the clan who is a danger to everything Aiden and Kira hold dear and Aiden finds himself doing something that is beyond selfless, in this reader's heart, to keep his woman safe.
I love the secondary characters, many who have their own stories in other MacKay books. When you pick this book up, you will find the "feel" of Scotland surround you as you read. I just want to crawl into her stories and lose myself. Love, love, love her writing!
I really like Kira. She is sweet, funny, and scared out of her mind. Best of all, Kira is normal. She is not some hot model type. Shes average looking and even has a little belly roll. She is self conscious, but she has no reason to be. Aidan is more than attracted to her. He is obsessed.
Aidan is everything I love in a Highland hero. He was sexy, brave, and a complete and total alpha male. I loved Aiden. He is my dream hero!
The path to their HEA was a rocky one. They went through two times, death threats, imprisonment, and poisonings.
If you like time travel romances, Highlander in Her Bed is a must read!
If you look at my reviews you will notice mostly 5-star book reviews. This isn't because I love everything I read, rather I only choose to review books that I really enjoy. If I could have given this one 6-stars I would have!
