About the Author
Award-winning author, Deborah Gafford is known for passionate, action-packed "love conquers all" historical romance novels as well as contemporary romance. Her talented wordsmithing skills create bigger than life historical romance set in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands. Ancient stone castles set among heather and rock clad hills serve as the perfect backdrop for her historical romance novels filled with life, death, love and honor amidst the dangers and intrigue of the medieval time period.
Recipient of the Crowned Heart Award, Highlander's Bride is the first book in her popular historical romance series, Heart of the Highlander. Her writing has been described as "...a beautifully written masterpiece with well-developed, complex characters, that will engage your interest from start to finish."
The Talisman, her second book in the series, continues to delight historical romance fans with an evocative tale of love, honor and bravery set in Scotland during the 1500's when true love is put to the test as a mysterious killer stalks members of a highland clan.
Highland Betrayal, Gafford's third book in the popular series, will be released in 2014. In addition to continuing the tradition of giving her readers a love story that deeply touches the heart, she delights fans by bringing former characters back into the story so readers fall in love with them all over again.
When not in the past bringing passionate lovers together despite all odds, she is creating contemporary romance. The laugh-till-you-cry characters and their hilarious antics as they search for love in her contemporary romance, You're in Good Hands with Al Tate is a must read romantic comedy.

What an amazing read! I have had Ms. Gafford in my "To Be Read" pile for months, and I was not disappointed. As an avid reader of Scottish Romances, I'm continually on the hunt for new authors in this genre. It is very apparent to me that this author has a passion for Scotland, and her history. You could see if from the very first page of the book, through her detailed attention to history and her incredible depictions of the country had images of the highlands jumping off the pages as I read.
I didn't realize until the end of the story, that Alexander MacGregor was inspired by cover model, Jimmy Thomas....and I can so see it! Sexy, dangerous and ferociously protective of what belongs to him. He was the complete package when it comes to alpha males. I love my alphas!
Katherine's character was perfection. I love that, though she was a woman in the 16th century, she had enough backbone to fight for what was hers. Having Katherine smack her adversary was amazing, as I felt like I might jump into the book and do it myself.
There were unexpected turns and twist throughout the entire read, and it was due to Ms. Gafford's amazing ability to weave a story together, and kept this reader turning the pages into the wee hours of the night. If you love historical romances and Scotland, then you don't want to miss out on this read! Fantastic!
I received a copy of this book from the author, for the purposes of an honest review.
Katherine wants to marry for love and have the life her parents seem to. Love, children, all of it. But a twist of fate places her in the position to be married to a complete stranger. Fighting the arrangement every step of the way, she is determined to marry for love, if only her parents would listen.
Alexander is looking forward to his retirement from the Kings service. Wanting to relax, find himself someone special to love and have a family with, he is thrown for a loop when it is declared he is to marry and his father has made the choice for him. Determined to marry by his own choice, and for love, he sets out to make sure the lady in waiting refuses him.
The bickering between Katherine and Alexander only seems to bring them closer rather than push them apart. And just when they both realize what their true feelings are... an unexpected twist takes place that could ruin any chance they may have to be together.
I fully enjoyed this story. The characters were realistic, the imagery vivid enough to pull me into Scotland and the ease of the Scottish burr was just enough to make you feel the language without any problems. Kudos to the author for her ability to accomplish it all. I will enjoy this book many times over. 5 stars! Highlander's Bride (Heart of the Highlander Series Book 1)
This is a wonderful story with an unexpected twist and of course a 'verra' happy ending. The secondary characters enhanced the story very well with Malcolm as my favorite. So get ready. This sbook will take you on a rollercoaster ride full of passion, romance, honor and betrayal. Give it a try. I promise you won't be disappointed and after you finish reading this, you'll want to go ahead and get the sequel, The Talisman. Great job, Deborah!
