When it arrived I was very disappointed.
The falls are out of focus. They are all 'fuzzy'. ALL OF THEM. Especially page 26 Wadsworth Big Falls. What is going on?? So I read on page 26 "Using a Long Shutter Speed'. Why?
All through the NH section where I live, I have seen most of the falls in this book many many times and they don't look ANYTHING like the 'smooth white curves and lines' that the author chose to put in the book. I am so disappointed. Since the author described these falls as: excellent, good, gorgeous, why did he think they needed a change? To something not real? If he wanted to 'play with' the camera, do one or two in each state but ALL OF THEM??? I am so disappointed and totally confused why he did this.
I don't think he was thinking about US, the waterfall chasers, but himself on what HE likes.
I will not recommend this book to anyone. There are other books that will show what the waterfalls ACTUALLY look like with directions and maps.
There's another place for 'playing with shutter speed'; it's in the photography section perhaps a title like: "Playing with Shutter Speed".
My son saw this at Barnes and Nobles and wanted to get it for his mom for Christmas. Amazon was cheaper. I gave it a quick perusal($5 word!) and it looks very good. Maps, trail guides a bit of area history. Nice. Should be especially helpful for me. I have some really nasty neuropathy in my legs and it’s good to know what we are getting into before it’s too late and I can’t do the hike. We did Bash Bish Falls this past summer and we came down from the Mass side to the N.Y. side, damn near killed me. I’m grateful to the authors. Highly recommend. Thanks for reading
