Edit (26Aug2015) - Bought another one and it's just a good as the first. Have had no issues with the first. I will buy more.
Edit (Nov2015) - All working great. Picture is from one of the cameras. I'll try to remember to post a night time pictures also. Very impressive for the price.
Edit (4Dec2015) Finally got around to taking a night time screen shot. No moon and no external lighting. Enjoy.
FYI One star because 2/3 of the cameras on Amazon are currently Gray market with hacked firmware. If you get an international version of this camera (or buy from a reputable Hikvision retailer) I rate it 4 stars.
Beware of the gray market Hikvision cameras that are actually the Chinese version with English firmware updated. I tried to download the latest official firmware from Hikvision and load it, bricked all of the cameras. Then I found out that most of the cameras being sold are gray market, not us or international editions. Only those official editions support the official hikvision USA firmware.
Apparently, two ways to identify the "proper" cameras that get official firmware updates are either:
1)Red/White box (if you get the camera shipped in a brown box, it's very likely that it's Chinese).
2) If the serial number contains CCCH then you've gotten a gray market version. CCWR should be updatable from Hikvisions official firmware sources.
There is a whole community devoted to hacking the cheaper Chinese versions of these cameras, but I couldn't make it go in a few hours and I'm a pretty knowledgeable person. Good luck, the camera is fine, but get one that supports the official firmware & gets upgrades!
The picture on the camera is very nice. Clear, vivid colors during the day, and well lit night vision at night. The IR LEDs switch on automatically and the IR cut filter turns off to reveal a nice clear image. I was very impressed with the quality of the picture from a camera at this price.
I use this camera with Blue Iris, and I can report that it works great. Setup was simple and all the features work well.
Overall, this is a great camera with a lot of features for the price I paid ($77) and I will definitely be getting another soon.
DS-2CD3132F-IW as a model is not recognized on any official website.
Do for the latest project I have, I working camers that is functionally unable to send an email and one brick camera that sits in my driveway keeping swallows worm at night.
refunds are in order.
Assign an IP is made easy using the vendor's discovery utility. Once an IP is assigned, I set the admin password and made a few tweaks in the web UI.
This camera has a quality image. The IR works as intended.
I use BlueIris for monitoring and recording - no integration issues.
Manufacturer warranty can be sketchy on these, especially if you get a Chinese version. I have not encountered any issues and am willing to take the risk since the product is high quality and the price is right.
