This was an ok book for me. I guess I was expecting something with a little more depth to the plot and more substantial characters to root for. I guess I was expecting something similar to Wicked. This is a short story. I was able to read it from beginning to end during my one hour lunch break. The witch moves from place to place and through her list of victims very quickly and without much thought. There are a few areas that are funny but overall, I am very glad that this book was free.

What a great book!!!! I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I was cheering for Hilda. She is such a great character. This book made me laugh at times. I hated to see it end so quickly. For such a short read this book was so well defined. It had a beginning, middle and an interesting ending. I hope to see more of Hilda.

I'm guessing the author is about 15 years old. The precept of the story is what drew me to the story, but it is unevenly written with gratuitous vulgarities. I don't have a problem with vulgar language, if it develops the character and/or advances the plot. In this story it does neither. Within the first page or so I was wondering why this witch from another world knew these very modern society usages. At no time did the author show (rather than tell) the thought processes of the characters in an believable way.

I've read better stuff on fanfiction sites (and that's saying something!).

I found it was more believable that a witch would be transported across time than the idea that bikers by the name of Bubba and Skull would actually utter the words "Oh my," and drink Pina Coladas.

Here is the plot: witch gets transported to our modern world by accident, has to find her necklace to get back. Encounters people and situations new to her. Finds her necklace, the book that has the right incantation, returns to her time.

I'm one who tries to finish a book, and I did, but the story was predictable and boring and the dialogue throughout was stilted and very painful (from all the characters.) None of the characters were particularly likable or interesting. None of the situations she found herself in were all that interesting. Pretty much a dull read all around.

I was enthusiastic about starting this book because I liked the premise of fantastical elements in a mundane world. Unfortunately, the writing and editing were so poor that I was unable to get into the book past the first chapter. The dialogue is wooden to the point that nobody can manage a contraction, let alone a distinctive voice, and the scene jumps around without so much as a line break between paragraphs to let us know where we're going. There were multiple spelling and grammatical errors just in the first few pages. This might have been a good first draft for a novel, but first drafts are not for anyone but the author and editor to read.

I enjoyed the premise, but the third grade English grammar I simply could not stand. The author is from the Netherlands, and my suggestion for the next book would be to write in his native language and have it translated. It starts right off in the third paragraph, when two members of a biker "gang" (five members, four bikes) is asked to finally fix a carburetor. The response from the other biker is "Yo, Bubba, I thought I had done so!" There seemed to be an almost phobia of using contractions among characters at the beginning, particularly among those who would normally use more crude and vulgar language. It is beyond a stretch to call this a book or a novella- it's a short story. The plot was thin and the primary story was something like: Powerful witch from another dimension accidentally sends herself to our dimension. She somehow has amazing abilities to perform witchcraft when it's important, yet fumbles with her Latin when it is not important. The "subplot" is the witch's lousy temperament. The ending is abrupt and if it had been a good story, I might have been upset; however, as it is written I was actually rather thankful to be done. I'm happy this book was free. The second star was for the story idea, which had so much potential.

I thought it would have been light and funny so I downloaded it because it was free. People should be paid for wasting their time on this poorly written novel. The book was incredibly immature and the plot was just plain stupid.
