Christina has dealt with a lot since her accident and Serenity Hills Guest Ranch seems like the perfect next step in her recovery process. Too bad her employer's cranky grandson doesn't agree. And he takes particular exception to Christina's service dog Gracie right from the start. Seth almost fell off my swoon-factor meter over his giving darlin' Gracie the cold shoulder. (That's when the upside-of-the-head-smacking urge started to fester.) Thank goodness Gracie worked her charm -- and, in fact became a dogged matchmaker (pun intended) in many a fun scene.
Plain and not-so-simple fear is what's holding these two back from committing to a future together. It takes a whole lot of faith and the love and support of family and friends (and one very loyal angel dog) to help them achieve the happily ever after dreams are made of.
Christina has been trying to overcome physical and emotional difficulties from a terrible accident and she thinks she is ready to try being on her own, so she takes a job as a house keeper on Seth's parents' guest ranch. She can do the job as long as she has her wonderful therapy dog, Gracie, by her side. Believing a normal relationship is out of the picture with her disabilities, Christina's main goal in life is to get back to the career she was trained for as a social worker.
I enjoyed knowing that Seth was in big trouble right from the get go but you'll have to read the book to find out why. I appreciate reading a story with horses written by someone who has depth on the subject. And Gracie was my favorite character. Who couldn't love her? She'll probably be yours, too.
Seth and Christina have their faults and shortcomings, but clearly they were made for each other. How come everyone but them can see it? Will they drop the blinders of their preconceived notions in order to see the steps to take to find each other? Can they open their hearts to love even as the guest ranch seems to be failing and other opportunities call?
Myra Johnson has penned an unforgettable tale of love amid the struggles of learning to let go of the past in order to find the future God has planned for those who love Him. Pick up a copy of Her Hill Country Cowboy and you won't be putting it down anytime soon.
