I was very interested to see a story about Crohns Disease. I was curious to see how this played out. Let's just say I was very disappointed in the outcome.
Throughout this story Tripp is warned to tell Diana his secret of why he left her. When she finds out from someone other than Tripp the author turns the entire story around to prove Tripp was correct not to tell her. Why? Because the author made it that she was afraid to be with him now. Excuse me???? What about trust and betrayal??? He betrayed her TWICE! He lied by omission. There was no honesty. And to top it off he was a egotistical man on steroids who REFUSED to have her help because he considered it pity. And yet the author made Diana into the bad person?????
I was hoping for a discussion between Seth and Tripp because Seth has with Christina what Tripp was afraid to have with Diana. I wanted Tripp to understand Christina's situation and how Seth was in the same boat Diana would be in. Yet did we get that? No. How can the author refuse that discussion? It's off camera you can say. We get something like this:
Seth to Diana - "Tripp and I have been talking a lot and let's just say I'm shocked you'd refuse to be with him because he has Crohns". Say what????? Was Tripp having a pity party with Seth and lied about the entire situation??
Also Tripp's revelation that he loved Diana and wanted a life with her despite his diagnosis also happened off camera with his dad.
Then at the end Tripp leaves Diana for 2 weeks for his "surprise" and then nonchalantly walks back into her life with a phone call that he's ready to hang up on her because he didn't care one bit that he hurt her for being gone for 2 weeks. He was arrogant and cocky about the entire thing and didn't care he'd yet again abandoned her for a THIRD time.
Then they have their stupid HEA because he swears he won't ever leave her and tries to encourage her to accept poor put upon him with Crohns because she's so selfish and heartless about being with him because of his disease. That was just a slap in the readers face right there. Nothing about how she can ever trust him.
I'm sorry but the author did a bad job with a story that had a great idea. This story didn't work with the Love Inspired formula of having 3000 pages of not having them together and 1 page of reunion and 2 pages of the wedding we are suppose to be swooning over. Sorry! That failed miserably because these two needed serious premarital counseling. There was no trust there. None. If I was Diana I'd wake up every morning wondering if he walked away that day. And when his Crohns flares up if he would actually want her help this time around or if he'll refuse her help because of his pride.
