The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
I just re-watched this for the first time in at least 10 years and it’s still a great film. It’s still brutal by today’s standards and just as claustrophobic as I remembered. I remember the huge controversy over the shot of the baby with a gun in her face. And rightfully so, because it is still hard to watch. The grittiness of this intense remake really makes it standout from a lot of other modern reboots.
The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007)
Gory and gritty - this sequel to the remake of Wes Craven’s cult classic lacks the magic of its predecessor. The body count is bigger and the gore is plentiful, but the gripping sense of doom and true terror is gone. It still does its job as an enjoyable slasher, but it doesn’t add anything fresh to the franchise. Still worth a watch for the fun factor alone.
This Blu Ray 2-Pack comes housed in an appealing slipcover and offers the same special features you would get if you purchased them separately - and at this great price, it's a real bargain.
