Transitioning to new foods:

- At 7 years, cats should be transitioned to a Science Diet Adult 7+ cat food.
- At 11 years, cats should be transitioned to a Science Diet Adult 11+ cat food.

We want our pet parents to know that Hill's cares deeply about product safety and quality. We manufacture 100% of our dry pet foods in our own manufacturing facilities under the supervision of Hill's employees. Due to our stringent quality and safety programs, we are confident in the safety of our products. Since 2007, Hill's has invested millions of dollars in our facilities, manufacturing practices and formulas to reduce the risk of food safety issues. In fact, Hill's performs over 1,000 tests for salmonella at our manufacturing plants every month, and we do not release products from our facilities until our food safety testing is complete
We do recommend storing the food in the original bag. The bag should be stored in a cool, dry environment under 100°F (38°C). This is to prevent destruction of vitamins and oxidation of fats leading to rancidity. Pet foods will retain their best flavor if stored in the original bag, which provides a fat barrier. Storage at temperatures of 120°F (48°C) for more than 48 hours can accelerate the normal degradation or destruction of the vitamins.
Our kitten prefers this stuff to the adult formula, so it must taste pretty good. I'm also not sure if it's the science diet, the natural aging process, or the amount of petting the cat now gets, but his coat has definitely gotten much, much shinier and silkier over the past month that we've had him. We also just took him to the vet yesterday and she definitely approved of using this formula for our cat until he reaches a year, since it's just a little bit better for his development than pure adult formula would be (though she saw no problems with feeding him half kitten chow and half adult chow).
So far, the zipper seal on the bag has worked to keep it sealed and the food fresh. However, having just one cat and feeding it two different formulas means that we'll be opening and re-sealing the bag A LOT and the zipper most likely won't last that whole time. We're planning on getting a tub of some kind eventually to put the food inside of to keep it fresh so that we don't have to rely on the zipper.
The Hill's Science is a bit softer so might be the reason. Our dog eats both when she gets a chance.

This is super dry food because the round pellets are very small- easy for all aged cats to eat !Published 10 days ago by KatieSparkle
My cats seem to like it... the grains are very small though, so they don't work so well in feeders, only on bowls.Published 13 days ago by HackerPoet
My kitten prefers this to the other dry foods I have given him. He loves it!Published 14 days ago by mom of 2
My kittens love the food. I am giving it five stars because I have a few cats at 15 going on 16 who have had nothing but science diet their entire life and they are doing great. Read morePublished 15 days ago by Anthony
