Meet the Trainer - Shaun T
Born Shaun Thompson, Shaun T first made a name for himself as a track‑and‑field star at Rowan University, where he received a BS in Sports Science with a minor in Theater and Dance.
Since then he's put both degrees to epic use—appearing on HBO's Six Feet Under, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, CNN, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning America, and The Doctors—and working with Nike, Boost Athletic Shoes, RadioShack, and the LA Lakers.
In 2007, Shaun T created the phenomenally successful dance‑based workout, Hip Hop Abs. A year later, he followed that with another big hit—Rockin' Body—as well as two workouts for children—Shaun T's Fit Kids Club and Get Real with Shaun T.
In 2009, Shaun T and Beachbody blew up the fitness world with the launch of INSANITY, a 60‑day total‑body conditioning workout that's insanely hard—but gets incredible results.

I hope that's useful information for someone. I will throw in that I see results with Insanity like I've seen with no other exercise program and I think Hip Hop Abs will make Insanity workouts even better because Insanity is so focused on core strength, and that's exactly what Hip Hop Abs works.
Also, really good advice I read somewhere else about exercise programs is: just do the best you can. I'm 50 years old and I don't think that I'll ever be able to keep up with the third (i.e. 'hard') rep of each routine in month 2 of Insanity (and I used to be able to when I was 48 but I've had a stroke since then). I just do as much as I can "without losing my form" as Shaun T would say, and I see results! So, if you're out of shape and think this is going to be too hard, go into it with the attitude that you'll just do the best you can do with what you have to work with.Read more ›
I just finished the 30 day program. I lost 2 inches off my waist. 1 inch off my chest. (no more back fat!) And gained about .5 inches to 1 inch on my arms and thighs. (muscle!!) I feel "tighter" everywhere, especially my core. I did not do any of the meal recommendations or shakes or anything nuts. I made better choices while not depriving myself. For example, I still ate pizza, ice cream, etc. Just not all the time. And I did not eat any fast food. I consider this workout a success! And it was fun to do. After a month of Hip Hop Abs I want to try something more difficult, so I'm going to try Insanity Check. I don't want to get bored with doing the same workouts. But I will definitely keep my Hip Hop Abs dvds to alternate between the workouts.
I highly recommend this for someone just getting back into exercising or for the first time! It makes you sweat, gets your heart rate elevated, but doesn't completely kill you so that you won't want to continue!
This is my first time doing anything with Shaun T. I love that this comes with a 30 Day workout schedule. This is helpful for me to have a set plan rather than relying on myself to do it. When it comes to exercise, I have to be "told" what to do or I'll lose motivation. I am female, 5'5" and 188 pounds. As with most of us women (and men), the weight did not come on overnight. For the past 10 years weight has been a struggle. I tried a certain diet plan which involved counting points. You can guess which one that is. While I lost about 15 pounds on that, I was miserable having to count points at every meal and not enjoying dining out at all. Then I was really sad. I wondered if my husband still thinks I'm beautiful and all that. My husband is the love of my life. Still is. And then this crazy thought crept into my head, what if he's looking at other women. Now I know he's not because I'm sure he doesn't want to be stabbed in his sleep, but I won't let the passion die between us. Gotta keep him in love, gotta keep him anxious to come home everyday. Girls, I did it for love. Now, I know inner beauty is above all, but if those curves look delicious, he's gonna want to hold you.
OK, so about this workout with Shaun T. I saw the infomercial one night over a bowl of nachos at 1am. I wasn't sure if this workout would do it for me but I logged onto Amazon and ordered it anyways. I put in the DVD and I started working out with the dance steps and the music and all. Shaun T works out without a shirt. I'll say it again. Shaun T works out without a shirt. Hotness. The workout is fun and the time flies. The floor boards are lifting because I'm sweating all over it or possibly because of my weight. Either way, I now use a mat. Good workout. A great buy. The DVD pack comes with a calendar with what workouts to do during the week. That was great. Gonna bring those curves back. This workout was really great for me, Shaun T always reminds you to have fun. I did. Awesome.
