EXTREME ABS is only about 10 minutes long, but it's an intense 10 minutes of standing crunches and floor work like push-ups, planks, and leg-raises. Floor stuff isn't my favorite, but this is great if you just want to do a quick workout that you'll still feel afterward (literally, the workout is so intense that I had to pause the video three times for breaks. Three times in 10 minutes!). EXTREME CARDIO, however, is 55 minutes of sweaty, high-impact, high-fun cardio. The moves are quicker-paced and progress faster than in previous HHA cardio workouts, which keeps your heart rate up, and the last fifteen minutes incorporate weights and focus on strength training (push-ups, standing crunches, etc., akin to the Total Body Burn workouts from previous HHA series). Also, while there are a few new moves and the sequences are more intense, a lot of the basic movements are the same as in previous HHA installments, which made it easy for me to follow even the first time through.
To that end, if you've never done Hip Hop Abs before, you may be a little lost if you start the program with this DVD. Whereas I knew exactly what to expect when Shaun announced that the next move was "Night Fever," "Hammer," "Roll In," etc.Read more ›
Conclusion: GREAT workout definitely not for beginners or the faint of heart. If you want to sweat like Insanity but need the music for a boost this is for you.
