I read this book in one sitting. It was a page turner wondering how long it would take before they would jump into something more than friendship.
This was a slow-burn , second-chance romance for me and I will recommend this to all the contemporary readers who are addicted to the friends-to-lovers theme!!
The angst in this book had me in my feelings (in a good way).
I absolutely loved it! I stayed up way too late to finish it but had no regrets!!

Tracey, Life Reads With Friends
Charlie is a tom-boy, one whose beauty cannot be hid behind her t-shirts and hoodies. Everyone except her best friend Levi can see how beautiful she is. College wasn’t for her so she worked odd jobs for a while until she found the perfect job for her at the best neighborhood bakery in New York - Get Baked. Charlie has struggled with fitting in her entire life. She loves to run, go to the batting cages, and is not really into girly things but her co-workers are teaching Charlie that she can wear girly clothes without losing herself.
Levi has always been protective of Charlie. They grew up neighbors with his most babysitting Charlie for her single dad. Levi never thought that anyone was worthy of Charlie which is why he ran off every guy that even looked her direction. Charlie was his wingman until one day his best friend asked about dating Charlie.
Hired Hottie is the classic tale of best friends to lovers with a twist. There’s always a twist and I won’t spoil the book by sharing this one. In typical Kelsie Rae fashion, she has created some very well developed characters that you will love, cheer for, and want to pop in the head (due to their stupidity). I enjoyed seeing some of my favorite characters from the Signature Sweetheart Series and drooling over chocolate croissants.
BlueSeal’s rating of Hired Hottie by Kelsie Rae….4.5 out of 5 propellers!
However that is far from the case. Levi just a little caught up with protecting those he cares about you soon find out.
Charlie and Levi have been best friends since they were little. You probably think how have they not gotten together .
Well Levi hasn’t seen what’s in front of him and when he does it maybe a little too late. Charlie is always been the little sister to him and even now at the beginning of the book. He wants to protect her from the childhood memories that haunt her.
At some point he needs to let Charlie be herself as this girl knows how to handle herself. She is stubborn and not afraid to speak her mind. Charlie isn’t afraid of hard work and she is the shinning light through the novel. But will she look past Levi’s mistakes and accept his love
This is my first book from Rae and I didn’t know what to think after I read the blurb. Rae did win me over though so I can say that she can write convincingly. It’s light hearted and fun flirty romance that has has the whole pawn angle hovering. It doesn’t work any favours with Charlie, considering she a young woman with insecurities that are field by media perspectives on bodies.
If you can see past, the whole issue of Charlie being used as a pawn. There is a wonderful story waiting to be discovered. Levi isn’t too bad, he just made a judgement of error that he need to fix asap. It took some advice from a familiar person to do the right thing and then the rest is history if they can put everything aside and find a future together.
Charlie is seriously the most naive character I've read this year, but she is so charming and such a great person. She has no idea how attractive she is, a fact that becomes very evident several times throughout the story. Her innocence isn't overly annoying, and I loved watching her development throughout the story.
Her best friend, Levi, was a little frustrating at first because dude just wouldn't get it together and realize he had something amazing in front of him. An ironic twist to the story finally makes him realize that he's got a good thing going - in a few different ways - and I seriously rejoiced when he finally got it together. He's a very hard worker and has a super sweet side to him that I was glad to see.
I really enjoyed this friends-to-lovers book. It had some twists, it had alllll the angst, it moved at a good pace, and it had absolutely wonderful characters. Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this book. It was fantastic!
