This book captured my interest immediately and held it the entire story -- Lysa owes a mafia boss after her father dies leaving a debt she's unable to pay. Set to rob the dark and broody Ethan on a repayment job, the heroine is instead captured by Ethan. Ethan is convinced Lysa has an ulterior motive and is likely aligned with the mafia boss, his lifetime enemy. Ethan sets a course for debauchery coercing her to stay in his home. Little does he realize, or likely accepts, Lysa harbors feelings for this tortured hero.
This story is a mixture of steamy and romantic suspense as the story gradually unveils more of the Ethan's sad history and his gradually succumbing to Lysa's warm personality.
I enjoyed the steady, heady steam weaved throughout the book. This book was not shy with the loves scenes and the hero's dirty talk -- thank you. I loved the tortured soul storyline soothed by the warm, sensitive heroine; the side character, Bubby, was simply delightul. Character development could have been richer. There was insta-lust (loved it), insta-attraction (also loved it), which eventually worked its way through their interactions. Ethan's wrestling with his feelings, which is what I'm sure was trying to be portrayed, sort of inorganically flipped back and forth rather than an authentic shift from dark and broody to lighthearted lover. I do understand his character was suppose to change.
Even so, I thought this was an excellent book, engaging storyline with lots of steam and a happily ever after almost fairy tale like -- oh so romantic. The childhood love, the butterfly theme, the saved kiss, the steamy love affair -- beautiful. 4.5 stars
