Mia is such a strong character. Everything about her brings light to not only everyone else in the book, but to the entire read. I loved getting in her head and connecting with her. She had such a beautiful outlook on life and the way she accepted and loved Cole from the moment she met him was a testament to her character.
Mace… oh God Mace Donati is the one character in this story that stood out the most to me. A wonderful father and role model. He was so strong and just so damn GOOD! I couldn't get enough of him and the way he changed Cole's life. The way he saved him and taught him and accepted him… the way he NEVER gave up on him. Mace was one of the real heroes in this story.
Cole was so complex. He was sexy and mysterious while also being open to Mia and what she offered him. Friendship and light. He went through so much at such a young age but he was one of the lucky ones depending on how you look at it. His connection to Mace made him so real. A kid that didn't know any better finally had something worth living for. His circumstances dragged him deeper into the darkness, though, and it broke my heart to see such a genuine person broken into pieces. But he was so strong and he had Mia and Mace. He had a real family and despite the things he HAD to do to survive, he came out on the other side a real man with beautiful flaws and a heart of gold.
Cole and Mia together was intense! Every encounter made my heart beat faster wondering what was going to happen, who was going to give in, what secrets were going to be told. I couldn't get enough of them. Their relationship is so brilliantly built from an undying friendship to love that conquers EVERYTHING!
Every character in this book had such a significant role and the twists and turns were so intriguing and exciting, I just couldn't put this book down! OH MY GOD! It's so amazing! There are things you won't see coming, people you won't be sure you can trust, and you will find yourself sitting on the edge of your chair with your fingers shaking from anticipation. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!!
This author writes such incredible characters and weaves a story that you can't help but fall into and never wish to climb out. This story will stay with me for a long, long time. It is one of my favorites of the year so far and I can't wait for more!
This book sat on my kindle for months. And even though LA Fiore is a favorite author of mine, I just couldn't seem to tackle it. It's a long book, and a 400+ page story isn't always captivating. But if you're going to tell the life story of a broken little boy, then it's going to take a while to tell it.
Full of surprises, tears, beauty, princesses, and darkness. It tells the story of 2 kids who met by accident, and began a life's journey that would tear them apart and bring them back together again and again. Cole never really left her, she was always in his sights. And Mia never gave up hope that he would return to her one day. Like two characters from a fairy tale, fated for each other, but so many things get in the way. (I won't spoil any of the details, but it was worthy of 400+ pages.)
***Fiore blew me away with her grand surprise. And my tears started rolling. Loved it!!
I truly believe that Cole is mine. No one else can have him. I call dibs! I think his character is just amazing. Tough, rough, rugged, and all alpha male. This coming from a horrible childhood where his father loathed him and took out every foul mood on little Cole. One of the best parts of the story was Cole's first meeting with Mace. My God -- another hot and smoldering alpha male.
Due to Cole's upbringing and what Mace witnessed as a neighbor from across the street, Mace took him under his wing and promised to be something Cole's father could never be ... a loving father figure. The day that Mace brought him in the house, Mia vowed to take care of him. At just 7 years old, she loved him. She knew it. She felt something for him that she couldn't explain.
For years and years and yes ... years, they loved each other from afar. Through high school and college and growing up, Cole steered clear of Mia because he knew that he was wrong for her, but was he, really? He feared that he would become the monster that was his father, so he kept his distance. He did however, stay close with Mace, even working in his garage. Cole just kept pushing Mia away, and it just tore a hole in Mia's heart. She couldn't understand why.
Tragedy then strikes. Gut wrenching, need a whole box of tissues, tears all over my kindle tragedy strikes. My God, my heart was so broken and it tore everyone to shreds. Mace and Cole were keeping Mia from harms way, via some extremely cruel and brutal men in the neighborhood, whom were planning on taking over the town. The men were determined not to allow that to happen. When this horrible accident occurred, it did not slow down the process of taking down these men. However, the main focus was to keep Mia safe. Always, keep Mia safe.
Were they successful in keeping her from harms way? Did Cole give in and let Mia in on his feelings, or did he go down the wrong path and become his father? Does Mia give up on her feelings for Cole, although she knew that she could never love another?
This book will stay with me for eons. I promise you that it will. I stayed up until all hours of the night because I didn't want to put it down. Addicting -- that's what His Light in the Dark is -- addicting. If I can recommend only one book to you this year, it would be this one. My very first L.A. Fiore book and now she has me hooked. She has me wanting more. The very end had me crying so hard that I sniffed throughout the night. Amazingly, brilliantly, wonderfully written. Please tell me that I will get more Cole and Mia?!?!
A VERY WELL deserved 5 star rating!

Cole Campbell doesn't know what its like to be part of a family he's living with his father who isn't an ideal role model, alcohol and women are more important to him than his Son, Cole see's things and has things done to him that no child should be subject to but when they are forced to move to another house he's introduced to what a family should be, he learns to smile, laugh and love all from Mace and Mia his next door neighbours.
Mia is but a small child believing in Princesses, peanut butter and fluff sandwiches when Cole Campbell moves next door, she's drawn to Cole from an early age all innocent until later in life when her feelings change but challenges in Cole's life have left him removing himself from the family they became as young children, however Mia doesn't give up on Cole hoping that one day he will return to them. Mace is a young single father raising Mia with love and respect but when he witnesses Cole being ill treated by his father he steps in providing him a safe place where he can learn and grow as the years go on Mace stands by Cole and then circumstances change and it is Cole who is keeping watch over Mia but all from a distance.
I'll leave it here but I do urge you to get your copy you won't be disappointed. XX
From the first few pages into the prologue I was consumed by the story and found myself unable to put this book down. His Light in the Dark is raw, edgy, emotional, heart wrenching, erotic, sensual and floats on an air of suspense as its tale takes you on twists and turns with danger lurking not far behind.
I fell hard for this book and that was down to the author’s talent in writing such an engrossing storyline that flowed effortlessly and kept me turning pages till the end. L. A. Fiore really knows how to make you feel connected to the characters and I experienced Cole’s emotions and despair as my own. Cole Campbell was a child forced to grow up without the necessary provisions needed in his early life to nourish his growth. Left to fend for himself he never experienced what it felt like to be safe, loved or natured only feeling the hate for being in existence. Meeting 12yr old Mia Donati forever changed his world and gave him hope that love and compassion was within his reach and that he could never become his father. The dialogue between a young Mia and Cole was adorable and had me laughing out loud. Mia’s father Mace downright owned a piece of my heart and I loved his relationship with not only his precious daughter who was his whole world, but especially with Cole as he showed him the true definition of a relationship between parent and child.
The story follows Mia and Cole from childhood into adults as they experience feelings for each other and the different journey life takes them on.
I loved young Mia Donati but all grown up she was even more loveable. She was sassy, sweet, loving, fought for what she wanted and she never gave up on Cole, whilst he fought his demons of feeling unworthy of her love that kept him pushing her away and then pulling her in.
Now L. A. Fiore knows how to write flawed sexy alpha males and Cole encompasses all that. This is a perfect read for those who love broody alpha males unafraid to show their primal possession, because Cole delivers many passion filled scenes with Mia leaving you in a heated mess.
I felt His Light in the Dark carries the same vibes from the successful Beautifully Damaged book which I love, but I think I ended up loving this so much more due to Cole Campbell. There wasn’t just one thing that I loved about this book it was the whole feel of it, the characters from Cole, Mia and Mace, down to its storyline that grasped at my heart strings making it an unforgettable read and that perfect epilogue which kept me smiling. I can happily say His Light in the Dark is one of my favourite romantic suspense reads of early 2016!
I don't even know where to start the praise. Mia & Coles story had me laughing out loud, shouting at the pages, gripping my iPhone so tight my knuckles turned white and so full of emotion I couldn't stop crying.
Such a fantastic plot line well thought out and really well written - it's definitely going to need a second read.
Cole and Mia's storey was very emotional, I laughed but I cried more. Cole is a true hero and so is Mia's dad Mace. Loved the twist at the end, didn't see that coming!!!
This is not a girl meets a rich man, have lots of sex, get married and have kids book. Oh no, there's far more depth to this story!!
