As it was, it remains a 4.5* read for me, but the author left it at a point where I went to turn the page, expecting to see a later glimpse of the guys in their HEA, in an extended epilogue, and found that the tale had ended the page before, on a 'work in progress'. Not that the latter was their actual relationship, but an element that would be incredibly important to their lives, one that to me, needed to be discussed and aired, so that it didn't sour things. From the amounts of love in this tale, I am pretty certain that it won't end up being an issue, but it still was one where the tale ended, which is why it wasn't quite a perfect read.
I loved pretty much everything about it - the tale, the leads, their past, one's eureka! moment resulting in the other's heart nearly bursting with happiness, the sex scenes which managed to combine sweetness, romance and talking dirty into something really, really believable for the guys.
I can only hope that she gives these guys a novella showing the final chapter that this tale needed to make it a 5* read. I needed and wanted that and I think the leads deserved to have that aspect of their lives cemented and as perfect as the rest. Please, Ms Bethke?

Blue wash filter over two men embracing. Holiday baubles hanging on either side. Script title has a magical look to it, author font is smaller, but strong enough to read easily. The color caught my eye, the synopsis piqued my interest.

POV ~> First person: Travis
State trooper, Travis, was injured on the job. ER nurse, Noah, is the younger brother of Travis's best friend. Noah volunteered to check in on Travis while Travis was healing and on medical leave. Travis had been in love with Noah since they were teens but had managed to hide his feels for two decades. Noah had always been attracted to Travis but thought he was nothing more than the "kid brother" in the family that Travis was absorbed into.
Eventually, feelings are made known and progress was made. I enjoyed the fact that the guys were not necessary as expected in the partnership. Plenty heat, a lot of heart. There were some bumps along the way from the least likely source. The plot was not too complex and the timeline was a little less defined, but generally moved smoothly. The conclusion was a bit loose but did provide an implied HEA.
Enjoyable holiday novella.

Liked that the older MC was the one with unrequited love. While no one stayed "pure",Travis' heart was firmly set on Noah.
Loved the dirty talk! Travis as first person POV was perfect, his internal monologue was hilarious at times, heartbreaking and tender at other times.
I would have liked to see into Noah's mind and heart, that insight could have added more to their story.
The timeline felt a bit rushed at times, but I have to remember that it is a short story. As always I want more!
This love story was two fold-Noah and Travis AND Travis and the family. A well told story of navigating through both.
