“Outstanding debut... The realistic, multi-faceted characters have interesting nuances, and Oliveras never stoops to employing contrived misunderstandings, instead creating real obstacles with meaning and depth. Moving familial relationships and splashes of Puerto Rican culture round out this splendid contemporary and bode well for the future of the series.” —Publishers Weekly, STARRED REVIEW
“Oliveras makes a perfect debut with a sweet, sassy, traditional romance. Book one in her Matched to Perfection series about three Latina sisters is a tale of a career dancer and a workaholic who have nothing in common but love and family. The story is well written and full of fun, welcoming characters. Readers will laugh and cry and be uplifted by the HEA. Oliveras is an author to watch.” —RT Book Reviews, 4 Stars

1) I loved Yaz's relationship with her family, and most especially her dad. Kristan Higgins' Blue Heron series has a similar, don't-always-agree-but-always-love-and-want-the-best-for-each-other family. In Higgins' series, it's not the hero I fantasize about--it's that wonderful family. Ms. Oliveras has created another of those families.
2) I loved that the characters were of Hispanic background. I love white people, I am a white people, but one of the reasons I read is to get to meet and learn about people from other cultures. Ms. Oliveras weaves in just enough details (food, music, the occasional Spanish word or phrase, quickly recapped in English so you don't get confused) to make me feel like a welcome visitor in a world slightly different than my own.
3) The five-year-old in her story story thought, talked and acted like a real five-year-old, which is pretty unusual. Most authors put ten-year-olds in their stories but insist that they're five. Maria had the short attention span and narrow range of concerns typical of real five year olds.
