I was pulled into In His Place straight away the sadness of Si's brothers death, Joe was a drummer in a band set to make it big only he never made it, leaving behind a brother who idolised him, his parents and a fiancé.
Si was also a drummer but was studying at the time of his brothers death and had chosen a different path, his drumming and music was something he enjoyed but not his career choice Si left that to his brother.
Following his brothers death Si was persuaded by the band to take Joe's place and little did he know at the time he would also end up wanting to fill his brothers shoes with the woman he left behind to.
Allie had been Si's crush since he was 16 but he loved her like the sister she was going to be and hid his feelings.
Allie lost the love of her life the boy she met on holiday that turned into more than a holiday romance, Joe was her soulmate and she couldn't move on she blamed herself for not being there the night he died until Si years later visited her, guilt had eaten at both of them for not being there for Joe and each of them thought one blamed the other through unsaid words in a time of grieving that eventually got to be said.
In his Place is a heartfelt and heartwarming read, the progression to Allie and Si finally giving in to their feelings and following their hearts instead of being consumed with guilt was moving and an emotional journey.
Si isn't the typical rockstar character I've read about in other rockstar reads, I mostly prefer cocky, arrogant characters who change when they meet the one but Si is sweet from the start, yes he's a single guy so he loves the ladies but he's also a family guy with his parents, he's loving, caring, honest and you can't help but fall in love with his character and cheer him on hoping he finds love.
Told in dual pov's and leads to a hea, a perfect Sunday read, no angst, drama, or violence not as hot as I prefer but the plot didn’t fall that way to justify lots of sex in this story. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone.
Lisa J Hobman writes this series set in the UK it's refreshing as a British reader to read from an author who's characters and the location is also in her home country when so many writers from other countries like the UK build the plot characters etc around the U.S. so In His Place was a pleasant change and nice reading about familiar locations and phrases.
Arc gratefully received by author for review purposes
If you want light and fluffy, this isn't the book for you. Let's just be clear about that ;)
If you want angst, drama and a lot of emotion, then yes, this book is the one for you (just make sure to read book 1 first so you know more about the characters).
I love Si Delaney. He gets put through such an ordeal in this story and it endeared him to me so much.
To be in love with someone you know you shouldn't be in love with. To feel like you can't act on your feelings because it would be a betrayal of possibly the worst kind. Those are not things a person takes lightly. Si has such a big heart and it gets put through the wringer.
This story makes you feel all the feels it's possible to feel. It's a roller coaster and although you might be scared to ride it because you don't know where it's going, you take a leap of faith and strap yourself in for the ride anyway. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.
Lisa Hobman's writing is always amazing. She's so talented and it shines through in every character, every word or thought in their head. She loves each and every character with a passion, that bleeds through in her stories and you can tell they are created with as much love and care as possible.
I loved Nick's story in book one, but I think Si has stolen my heart and held it captive.
Lisa makes it impossible not to love her outrageously sexy men. And you may even end up with a girl-crush too, but you'll have to wait and see.
I totally have a girl-crush on Lisa. She is an author I aspire to be like. She makes you feel so much in such a short space of time. That's just how powerful she and her words are. As an author trying to hone my own craft, I read stories like the ones she tells and I wish I had an ounce of her talent.
In short, you will love this emotional story, but you'd better have some tissues ready and be prepared to want to throw your kindle/the book across the room - please don't do that though ;)
I hope everyone loves Si Delaney as much as I do. He deserves to be loved after everything he goes through. His journey is tumultuous but the end is worth every moment of pain and anguish. Just trust me on that and pick up a copy of In His Place now.
For five years, Si lives the rockstar dream, then a hiatus brings him home to face his family and to apologise to the one woman he never forgot, his brother's fiance Ally. He always admired her from afar but knew she was meant for his brother. Ally has never moved on and seeing Si brings on all her old feelings and memories.
No spoilers but I guarantee you are going to fall hard for Si, I just wanted to give him a giant hug. This drummer boy will melt your heart. I recieved an ARC for my honest review.
Her writing really brings out all the emotions that this story has to offer, sadness, grief, friendship, humor and love. Si and Allie struggle with their feelings and I love how everyone rallies around them.I highly recommend this book as a feel good rock romance which happens to include the best M/M Wedding ever - with Hector scene stealing, so cute!! Did you not expect that??? LOL - Guess you will have to read this to see what I am talking about. BTW Lisa if you are reading this review - How long until Chris???
