His to Protect is listed as book 2.5 in Carly Phillips’ Bodyguard Bad Boys series and falls in the same timeline as the sixteenth book in Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series. This book can be read as a complete standalone. His to Protect is written in third-person semi-omniscient perspective, alternatively following Talia and Shane’s thoughts.
I freaking loved Talia and Shane. They were both so strong, so independent, so confident in who they were. Having two characters who are completely comfortable in their own skin and lot in life seems rare in the world of romance and having two characters like that find one another made me giddy. I loved that they wanted the same things in life and were both completely honest with the fact they weren’t in a place where they thought a relationship was important or feasible.
Though this book was a novella, it didn’t feel rushed or lacking in any way. The plot moved quickly and, while the action was intense, I felt like plenty of time was spent on building the connection between Talia and Shane. In a novella that can be a hard balance to find and Ms. Phillips did an amazing job of striking it.
This is my first time reading Carly Phillips, and if this is indicative of her normal writing, I’m a huge fan. Her prose was engaging and exact. I loved that she didn’t include a bunch of superfluous information for the sake of filling pages. I was wholly impressed with every part of this book, from characterization to plot to style, and look forward to reading more of Ms. Phillips’ work.
She was all about her work and saving lives, she didn't have time to live life.
When someone broke into her lab, she knew immediately what they were after. They wanted the secret formula she was working on. With her brother Tate who worked at Alpha Security being out of the state on an assigment. He send her to his best-friend and the one man she'd pushed away years ago. The sexy as sin Shane Landon.
Shane Landon worked as a bodyguard for McKay-Taggart, he loved his job and didn't have time for relationships. But when the woman who'd pished him away showed up in his backyard, scared. He knew it had to do really bad.
Talia's life was on danger, there were people after her. Hi job was to get her to her mentor who had the final piece of the formula she was working on. The more time they spend together, the harder and faster they kept fallen for her.
Together with Talia's mentor and Shane's friends they got the evildoers. Shane walked away from the woman he loved cause he thought she deserved better. His action left them both miserable and heartbroken.
Good thing their lived ones weren't against playing matchmakers. Talia and Shane got theid HEA.
HIS TO PROTECT is a crossover novella between Carly Phillips' BODYGUARD BAD BOYS and Lexi Blake's MASTERS AND MERCENARIES series. What an entralling, intriguing and oh so incredible ride. Brilliant job by Mrs Phillips. Two thumbs up!
Big pharma isn't going to murder you to keep you from "discovering the cure." Big Pharma wants you to grow old and live forever. Because old people get sick more and buy more meds. Big pharma will fund a portion of your research so they can sell your cure. And big pharma, which isn't really a monolith, is definitely not going to swap your flu shot out with a RFID tracker and give it to you in your hip. And if your bodyguard is "scanning you for trackers" every 5 minutes the flu/RFID will show up and you won't have to throw your only heirloom jewelry out the window.
