The character development was really solid, especially for Lucy. I could tell that the author spent time researching the Amish culture and put significant work into this book. I loved the tension between Mack and Lucy; it sold me on the relationship since it wasn't all heart and roses. Nikita Slater always delivers on creating strong characters. Furthermore, she keeps up the character development for secondary characters, whether it's adding to characters we've seen before in this series or new additions. I enjoyed that while she focused on Mack and Lucy she integrated others into the book as well.
The world building continues to be superb. The people and world were so real that I become absolutely captivated by the book. The storyline itself was thorough and very engaging. Sometimes with series as each book goes along, I'll find that the stories end up repeating themselves. This author avoids that issue and keeps everything fresh. I can’t wait to see the next in the series!
5 Stars for a captivating read with strong characters!
Mack is a true alpha! In true alpha form he has the looks, the physical attributes, and the OT attitude. Initially I could not imagine Mack and Lucy working. She is from a total different world and in this case I thought her innocence would be their downfall.
But like a true artist and a pro of her profession, Slater managed to create two characters that are perfect for each other! Kudos to Slater for a job very well done! I cannot imagine Lucy or Mack with anyone else....yes they are just that perfect for each other!

Alright.... so the story began a bit slow for me.... it all changed around chapter 5. Then it began sucking me in quicker than a black hole and I was totally hooked! In fact I have become so honked I’m going to go buy the rest of the books in these series because Fire and Vice just became my all time fav series!!!!’
So this is the story of Mac and Lucy! A heartened, messed up, rude, possessive caveman meeting a young, lovely, full of life and love amazing young woman from Amish society coming to the city for her Ramspriga( which is a rite of passage for Amish youth before they settle down for their adult life).Lucy also has her older sister living there with her Russian Mobster husband. It’s there( in the city) Lucy becomes intimately familiar with Mac( hot!!!!) bounty hunter. Here their story begins and does it take you on a whirlpool of love/hate/ battle of wills/ and heartbreak........ I had to put the book down closer to the end because I thought my heart was going to break!!!
Nikita your wiring is so amazing and so realistic it was an absolute pleasure to read it!!!
Cannot wait for the next book in the series!!!!
