I'm leaving my original review so you, the potential buyer, can see that while the initial customer service reps and review teams may have misdiagnosed my issue, someone up-the-ladder realized their mistake and addressed it personally to great effect.
Original Review:
This review is not about the TV performance specifically, but about my personal experience.
When I received the TV, I realized that the adhesive keeping the front of the screen onto the panel had worn away and was dry and crumbled down in between the screen and the backlight. The panel was literally separating at the top and the sides, and you could peer behind it and see the backlight. I immediately notified Hisense of this and waited to hear from their support. I would of just sent it back for a replacement, however, there were no replacements to be had at this point, and plus, this seemed to be a manufacturers defect. They didn't adequately review all the pictures I sent them, and I was told it was insect damage, and wasn't covered under their warranty. I notified them I had specific pictures that show it's the adhesive failing yet they insisted that it was deemed to be insect damage. I found it strange that the only two pictures they required from me (two full screen pictures, one with the TV off and one with it on) could 100% show that it was insect related. I insisted, no, I think this is the adhesive, and only after fighting was I allowed to send more pictures to show what I was talking about.
So I sent more pictures. They eventually get back to me and say it's insect damage, again. I tell them, if I'm forced to return this TV because they are going to just claim my issue is insect damage, without explaining to me how they've come to that decision, I'm going to be upset, and I won't using Hisense any longer. Then they tell me they will resubmit my case to "management". Well, eventually I get a call from someone who basically admits that after they looked at more pictures, it seems that it isn't insect damage (and that they only thought that because of the first two pictures they made me send, zoomed out full screen pictures that don't adequately show the issue, had black specs on the screen, it was adhesive and I explained that in the email accompanying those pictures, however that was all ignored). Instead, they said it looks like it was damaged due to shipping. I told him that sounded equally implausible because there wasn't any damage to the unit except for specifically the adhesive being all worn out, shipping damage would be more like a cracked screen or broken pieces, not adhesive just magically drying out. He insisted I had no option other than to return the device to Amazon.
It's sad, because as I told Hisense, I wanted to go with this model, I had done the research, and I meant what I said, if they weren't going to help me and made me send it back, I wasn't going to give them another shot. I wonder if you buy this TV...if they will adequately assist you with any problems you have, or just claim it's something else and excuse themselves of needing to assist you.
This is why I gave 1-star, because front loaded in my Hisense experience was a faulty TV (that's okay on it's own, it happens) and their customer service failed to adequately address this issue.

This is why I gave 1-star, because front loaded in my Hisense experience was a faulty TV (that's okay on it's own, it happens) and their customer service failed to adequately address this issue.

The main issue is that there is significant lag when using a sound bar through the ARC output. It seems to "drift" to more lag over time, something I didn't notice at the time of my review. I even returned a sound bar because I thought that was the issue (it was cheap, and it was a fairly common complaint of that sound bar). I upgraded to a much nicer JBL sound bar and the lag still exists. The lag seems worse on live TV through Cable input, so it's not just Android TV. Some apps are better than others, but lag is noticeable in every one. When I switch to TV Speakers, the lag lessens, but it's still there. Note that I've tried different HDMI cables as well - both brand new high speed cables.
Secondary sound issue - the TV unmutes itself after a while (20 minutes, maybe?). A minor annoyance, but one that adds to the frustration of owning this TV.
Last, the sound options like "Theater", "Late Night", etc... are nice, but inconsistent. Watching a movie like "John Wick" on "Late Night" works as expected (minimized (and mistimed) gunfire sound, clear dialogue), but something like "Chuck" is ruined because almost all non-dialogue sound is essentially muted. I realize that this may be the sound mix of the original programming, but I've never experienced this before on any TV.

The really important stuff: 4K picture is outstanding to my untrained eyes. OLED, QLED, whatever. This thing looks great. Watch Knives Out in HD, and then on this TV in 4K and it will change your TV-viewing life.
Getting it out of the box and on a stand was a breeze. The legs were easy to attach and detach. Setup was fairly routine, and expected with all the new Smart TV features and agreements to click through. The ARC connection to my soundbar worked flawlessly. The physical remote is solid, with everything you need and a good layout.
Minor complaint - The power cord port is on the extreme edge of the back of the TV and points outward. It is a short cord, so if you mount this, or are not close to an AC plug, you will need an extension cord. If it's mounted and pulled away from the wall, it will be visible from the side, so not very aesthetically pleasing.
If you don't care about Android TV/Google Assistant at all, then stop reading - the review is over.
I'm a Google Home fan. I have several devices throughout my home and previously had a vanilla Chromecast on my old HD TV. All of it works to my satisfaction (that is, 95% of the time I get what I want when I say "Hey, Google"). After setting up this TV, my satisfaction level has dropped tremendously. I have a Mini in my Living Room and a display in my kitchen about 20 feet away. Now I have this TV, which is another Google device, of course. Before, I could speak from my couch, and only my LR Mini would react. Now when I speak, about 80% of the time *both* my LR mini and and LR TV react. The TV pauses and before it can actually do anything the Mini has taken care of my request. The TV stays paused with a bar stating something that I never said, but maybe sort of close, on the bottom of the screen. 5-10 seconds later, play resumes. Well, most of the time. Sometimes I have to manually unpause it. So the interruption is incredibly annoying, especially since I'm closer to the Mini and it takes care of my request. The other 20% of the time, the TV still pauses and gets my request wrong, but now my Kitchen display responds!?! I don't know why it is suddenly much more sensitive, but it is. The TV has taken care of my request only once that I can remember, but is otherwise useless as a Google Device. I can't find any way to just turn off the microphone, which would be the ideal solution. I can turn off Google Assistant on the TV, but then I can't ask Google to "open Plex on the TV", for example, which is one of the main reasons that I went with an Android TV in the first place. Also, asking for a volume change hasn't worked once. The volume overlay appears on the screen, but the level doesn't change, no matter what's requested, so I have to use the remote for that.
So Assistant issues aside, how is Android TV? Not great, Bob. It comes pre-installed with a whole mess of clutter. I played around in the settings and got the home screen reduced to one row of only the apps that I want to see, but I can't get rid of the ads. Across the top of the screen and taking up a fairly large area, ads are constantly scrolling for stuff that I have no interest in. I can't find a way to turn this off, and since it's Google, I'm guessing that's by design. I wish I had known about the ads - that alone would have been reason not to purchase this. I know I'm an outlier with regards to my burning hatred of ads, so I only gave one star off of the rating, but it should be stated in big bold letters that your purchase will be subsidized by these ads.
Overall, this TV is worth the price for the picture quality and the ARC port. I'll just have to disable the Assistant and go back to a Roku stick for the interface and no ads.
