24 year old Mari has a death wish. After a tragic event derailed her life, she demeans herself as a servant for an ancient vampire in the hope that he will turn her.

This is a really well written novelette that kept me engrossed from beginning to end. The vampires are so cold hearted and horrible, and Mari so understandably depressed, that the whole situation felt very believable. I really really hoped that Mari wouldn’t continue on her self destructive path and that she’d find a reason to live and recover her self esteem.

A clever, well written story.

I'm not really sure what to say. It's not a bad book. No not at all , it's just kinda of depressing. It seems to me that the only luck this chick has is bad. Nothing but bad luck and from the very beginning of the book. Smh......The ending,.....ummm, She seems happy, I guess. I just don't think things are going to be as simple and great as she thinks.I wish it was longer because I would love to see how her life changes now.

I really enjoyed this novelette. Though it was short, it did not take anything at all away from the story. Each character that was introduced was fully developed. What I loved most about this story is that I had NO idea the direction this story would take! When a certain vampire was introduced it shifted things and it absolutely left me wanting to know more about that particular character! I really really hope that we get some more Marigold. She was an interesting character and I can relate to her need to be anything other than herself when you are going through a low point in your life. Looking forward to see what happens from here!

This really was a novelette, very short. The main character, depending on your view point, was either not well developed or very self centered. Everything revolves around her, how she's feeling, what she wants, she loses her boyfriend because of this. By the end of the night she had achieved her goal. The cliffhanger is if she will enjoy it or not. The best character enters toward the end, the local area master. Now that is a character I'd enjoy seeing developed. Basically, this is too short to enjoy.

Every now and then I fancy a short read, and I think it’s a great way of trying out authors new to you without committing to reading a full-length book.
The cover is quite striking, the golden looking face of a woman with blood on one side of it. The book is described as a novelette, which I do agree it is a shorter novella/novelette.

The main character is Marigold Jordan who is what I would describe as a servant to a rather prominent Master Vampire called Rhett. As the blurb says, and Marigold has full intentions of it happening. Marigold has found a strong, powerful master, she already serves him well, running his errands during the daytime whilst he sleeps and then being at his side to arrange his every whim and order as quickly and efficiently as possible. Marigold does all this in the hope that one day she will die. That Rhett will bite her and turn her into a vampire herself! To Marigold being a vampire is the ultimate gift, to her vampires are strong, and can have anything they want.
It will soon be the one night that Masters actually grant their servants, the honour of being bitten, killed and turned into a vampire, but things don’t go according to her original plan. Getting in the midst of two vampire lovers having a tiff, delivering a gift, then being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

My immediate thoughts upon finishing this novelette were simply that it had been a
good novella, that I would be interested in more books with Mari in them, or set in this universe.
Summing up. . . it’s a short enough book to be read whilst sat with a cuppa, so perfect for a bus, car, train journey. I would be interested in reading more books set in this type of world, and I will be taking a look at other books by this author too.
