The Spare – is a hauntingly dark romantic mystery with a tragic slant. It's an absorbing tale about Captain Sebastian Alexander, Earl of Teirn-Cope (rigid, stern, intense) and Olivia Willow (damaged/forthright/resilient). Will Olivia ever remember the events of that fateful day when his older brother and his sister-in-law were murdered and Olivia came very close to also being murdered?
Scandal – was the only one of the three I had previously read, but since it had been more than a year I read it again. As with the first time, I found this novel to be very introspective and deep into the Regency culture with a twist. Both Sophie Mercer (angry widow of a rogue) and the Earl of Banallt (widower and repentant rogue) are believable with both positive and negative traits. Can love, hope and forgiveness prevail?
Indiscreet – in many ways is my favorite. Most of the novel takes place in Regency era Turkey. Unlike the other novel plots, this one has the feel of real danger and Middle East intrigue. The lives of both Sabine Goddard (an intellectual that was falsely ruined by the lies of a rogue) and the Marquess of Foye (a damaged nobleman whose heart is closed off) became intertwined long before they every met. Can they save each other?
Scandal-what can a man do when his reputation as a rake is perpetuated by the Ton and their need to feed on a new scandal even if they have to make it up. The back story of our couple is wonderfully revealed.
Discreet - unique setting in the middle east, a reminder of the far reach of the British empire and in this case how far the hero will go to save his lady love.Part of the story is set in Aleppo. How sad that such historic location is being lost.
Because I liked this set, I purchased Carolyn Jewel's Sinclair Sisters series, with no regrets.
