Editorial Reviews

Gripping, informative and timely....A must read for policy makers, public health leaders, veterans in health professions and young people exploring careers alike.... The great blend of real human stories into this historical account of the profession is masterful and makes such pleasurable reading. --Julie Eckstein, MBA, Missouri Project Director, Center for Health Transformation and former Director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services

The volume is exceedingly readable and interesting....a fascinating history of public health action. The historical record of the Public Health Advisor is one where largely unsung civil servants accomplish extraordinary tasks to improve public health throughout the world. --James Curran, MD, MPH, Dean of the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University;

This book is an invaluable asset to my work with future students. Ready To Go teaches that the health of a nation was and can be protected by a dedicated cadre of skilled people who understand the inherent value of working cooperatively with people and communities. --Richard Crosby, PhD., Professor and Chair, Department of Health Behavior College of Public Health, University of Kentucky
