The volume is exceedingly readable and interesting....a fascinating history of public health action. The historical record of the Public Health Advisor is one where largely unsung civil servants accomplish extraordinary tasks to improve public health throughout the world. --James Curran, MD, MPH, Dean of the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University;
This book is an invaluable asset to my work with future students. Ready To Go teaches that the health of a nation was and can be protected by a dedicated cadre of skilled people who understand the inherent value of working cooperatively with people and communities. --Richard Crosby, PhD., Professor and Chair, Department of Health Behavior College of Public Health, University of Kentucky

This book, written by my mentors, is a glipse into a PH system many may not be familar with. I have heard many times, "well what is a PHA?"; this book helps answer this and more.
I can tell you personally, when the chips are down, a crisis is at hand, the first to volunteer to walk in and help is a PHA.
A must read......
