This is one of the most awesome books you'll read. All the stuff they won't talk about in Catholic school, you'll find out here. It actually helps put the Devil in his place. Really a surprisingly great book.

Such an interesting read! I really enjoyed it. I bought my copy used from Hawking Books, and (although the book jacket was a little beat up, hence the 4 stars) the book itself is in very good condition. I really recommend this book (and vendor) to anybody who's interested in the history of religions.

I picked this book up at Tower Books and Records in 1994,in Fresno, California. They had all this esoteric stuff in that store. What a find! An historical overview of the Devil, from all perspectives, from all religious angles. With this book, and Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer's SATAN, what more could you ask for?! Heaven on earth ... uh, rather Hell on earth, in a heavenly fashion.
Buy this book. Then pick up a copy of Carus' VENUS, An Archaelogical Study of Woman. And stand in awe.

This book was too broad in its scope--it gave a general overview of a handful of religions featuring some idea of evil, not really giving particular attention to that idea of evil. The tone the author wrote with bothered me as well--I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but he irked me...sorry for the lack of description.

Very informative. I am surprized this book is not more popular, it should be. It is packed with information that is surprizing to most readers. Very well researched.
