About the Author
Owen R. Rader was born on a farm near Elnora, Indiana, on October 28, 1915. Except for four pre-school years spent in Montana, he lived in the Elnora community his whole life until he and his wife Kathleen (Eads) Rader retired and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1986. A successful farmer, Owen was active in community affairs. He served two terms as Elmore Township Trustee (1963-1971) and he played an instrumental role in the state-mandated consolidation of the schools in five townships into the North Daviess Community Schools District. Owen was an active member of the Daviess County Fair board for 35 years. He and Kathleen were members of the Elnora Christian Church where he was an elder. They were also members of the Masonic Brotherhood and the Order of the Eastern Star. Owen died in Scottsdale on October 2, 2015, just 26 days short of his 100th birthday.
