This book is very well written and put together. The author goes to great lengths of research to provide and wealthy historical timeline of the illumination of this rock off the coast of Ireland. He also provides some interesting fact from people that formerly served on Fastnet. There are also a lot of construction photos of the (second/current) lighthouse, general photos, but no real interior photos sadly.
I only have one complaint about this book. Sometime during the writing of this book the author either asked or was invited to visit Fastnet and actually spend the night there along with a friend and a former keeper. There are two or three photos from this trip and a very small write-up. This is a tragedy in my opinion. It is so very rare for anyone, aside from maintenance staff, to visit these rock lighthouses anymore that I think the author really missed out by not writing more about this visit and ever more so by not including more photos of the lighthouse in its current state.
