The "history of western music" scene distilled down to three minutes -- on banjo -- alone is worth the price of admission -- plus the reaction of the one man captive audience -- priceless! Add in a heart warming father-daughter relationship and you have a goofy, off-beat sci-fi comedy like no other. I wish it wasn't so hard to find.

Delightful. Hilarious. Different. Charming. Original. Touching.

I can't say enough good things about it. It's one of the funniest movies in recent memory. Many would be quick to dismiss it as a "stupid hipster movie," but I saw this with a big crowd full of young and old people, and they all had a blast. Every joke hits and the audience loves every second of it. Is it different than most films released nowadays? Absolutely, but while it revels in its originality, it never feels like it's trying too hard. The charm comes naturally, like that ridiculously likable friend everyone has. This is a movie that really cares about its characters and the characters themselves are a joy to watch. There was never a moment in the film where I didn't have a big, dumb grin on my face because the excellent pacing keeps the film fresh, alive, and yes, absolutely hilarious. There are even a few nerdy references for the gamers in the crowd. The music is very catchy as well, and the audience started clapping with the beat at one point. It was one of the most fun theater-goings I've ever had.

Please support this movie. We need more like it. It's fairly short and goes by very quickly. Delightful and heartfelt, I can almost guarantee you'll be smiling uncontrollably for the entire running time.

    Hondo.

Based on the act (future folk) which has developed over the years from a unique folk music act into a science-fiction backed entertainment show, the history of future folk cements the back, middle and future story of the characters in the show.

The film is definitely made on a tight budget, causing some viewers to find fault, but it all adds to the charm and hard work of the act. The main duo work fantastically together, and the music from the actual act is brilliant (as expected). The supporting cast perform well, while the special effects do their job (with a little imagination).

The biggest issue with the DVD is that the disc main menu is a static image, and at times the quality of the DVD transfer could be slightly improved (like I mentioned the budget previously), but these are tiny issues compared to the heartiness of the movie itself. Frankly, I don't mind, but it's an issue for the viewers who demand more from a DVD.

If you've got a liking for indie movies, if you can take a film at face value, and want a positive movie experience, then see, buy, rent or buy this movie, I don't see how you can be disappointed.

This film is a great surprise. Enjoyable music, interesting science fiction premise with a humanistic perspective, judiciously campy aspects for comic relief, and surprisingly nuanced acting all make this as much fun every time we watch it. The best aspect, though, is that it is genuinely satisfying for adults while being completely family-friendly. In fact, there is a prominent child character and lots of moral examples without being preachy, so our toddlers love it as much as we do. Some people might find it hokey if they focus too much on the minor campiness, especially if they mistake the deliberate and functional camp for deficient production values. I personally do not typically enjoy campiness, ludicrosity, or outlandish flamboyance in films. This film is none of those things--it is more like the original Star Trek in that it used minimalism contrasted with punctuated silliness to highlight essential themes of the human condition without being trite or flashy vehicle for substance-less special effects. The budget is used to direct our attention to Things That Matter rather than a shallow blockbuster spectacle. Highly recommended.

When I saw the title of this film, I googled it and found information about the movie and about the band in Poland. I watched it off on Netflix and told myself, (I gotta have this). Why buy a movie when you can see it for practically free? I'm hoping that those who were in it and created it get a piece of the action, that's why.

If I had to give it a TV rating, I'd give it a PG for (I think) one swear word and it wasn't one of George Carlin's best words. The movie gives me a cozy feeling about the "alien folk song/players" and I'm hoping that they can come up with another one.

As for special effects, I didn't expect anything like Contact, The World's End, Signs, etc. You won't get that here. What you'll get is a story, some funny fight scenes (O.K. a couple), and the hope that if this were to really happen, (I'll stop here since what I could have typed would be a spoiler). Good stuff!!!

The picture of two guys wearing red buckets caught my eye, so I read the synopsis and thought, "Meh, why not. It looks really low budget, but we'll give it a try."

    AND I LOVED IT.

The charm, the humor, and that wonderful feeling of watching something pure, simple, and fun when so much of what we see now is big Hollywood bombast, just took me to this homey, comfortable place that I didn't want to leave. What I loved most about this film was how much of it had an organic, freewheeling tone, but also a structured and involving story and pace.

Unless you hate fun, I know you are going to love this movie. 5 stars!!
