JB Bury's Classic History of Greece is still a magnificent read.

Unfortunately, the Kindle version which I purchased is missing a large chunk of very important material. All the material on the beginning of the Peloponesian War is MISSING. The conflict between Corcyra and Corinth, the early battles, all of this is missing. At one point the narrative jumps from Section 7 of one chapter to Section 11. It is very sad.

Bury is one of my favorite historians. His insights into ancient history and language are very fresh and interesting. I had looked for this book for a long time and was happy to find it in Kindle. I know a lot of what is missing, but it would have been great to have read Bury's view on it.

There are other places where the text skips a few letters or there seems to be part of a paragraph missing. But the huge chunk missing from the beginning of the Peloponnesian War section is totally inexcusable. Doesn't any human actually read these book before they are offered to the public?

It took a long time to read this book due to the dryness of the sentences plus the multitude of editorial errors. Toward the end of the book the last chapters were full of errors and some cases duplicate sentences. The author had much to say but caused my interest to waiver due to the stated problems.
