About the Author
Born in Toronto, Clive Scarff developed a love of writing at an early age. His first "movie" aired on local cable when he was 13. At 14 he and his family moved to Australia where, in high school, he was the first-ever student to write a play for the school's drama festival. Clive returned to Toronto to study Radio and TV Arts at Ryerson University, majoring in writing. This led to a first career, in television production, where he wrote for commercials, ethnic programming, a fishing show, Canada's Gemini Awards, and CTV's Winter and Summer Olympic coverage. In 1994 Clive took a chance to test his mettle in the world of golf, and successfully qualified to become a PGA golf professional. His strength lay with teaching, and that teaching combined with his writing history led to the creation of "Hit Down Dammit!" - a golf instruction book that explains the workings of the golf swing as it revolves around the physical need to hit down at a golf ball to make it go up, and straight. The success of Hit Down Dammit! opened a lot of doors; Clive now has a syndicated golf column, a series of instructional DVDs, and had added "Why You Suck at Golf" "Mystic Links" and "Swing Issues" to his inventory of golf-related books. Also completed is a golf-themed screenplay called "Senior Tour". Clive resides in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

me in a special category of so called amateur golfers. But I
getting to love this game and in fact I'm hooked. I try to watch
golf channel much as possible - - Read the current Golf Magazines.
But by reading Hit Down Dammit!!, which to me was very informative,
I have improved my game. If no one tells you how to hit the ball
properly, the tendency is to hit up. For me it was a lot of worm crawlers.
By reading Hit Down Dammit!, I'm hitting the ball much better. It was
explained very well. Some of the instruction differs with the
golf instructors in Golf Magazine. But so far I feel comfortable with
this type of swing. The only negative about this book are the photos.
20 years of cluelessness has ended. Like Ben Hogan famously said, the average golfer doesn't lack skill, he lacks knowledge. Don't become one of the 1 million golfers who quit golf out of frustration each year. Do yourself a favor and buy this book.
