If you have ever had to cross cut corrugated or high rib roofing or siding, the type most commonly found on metal buildings, it doesn't take long for you to discover that there is only one tool that does the job smoothly and near effortlessly. Hand shears?..forget it, they just mess up the cut, a Uni-shear?...works OK for straight or curved cuts on a flat panel but it is near useless on the hills and valleys of a corrugated or high rib panel.
The right tool for the job is a 16 gauge nibbler and one of the best on the market is the Hitachi CN16SA. The first time I used this tool I couldn't believe how fast and smoothly it cut through the 26 gauge metal.
Two features to look for of when purchasing a nibbler, the most important one is the length of the neck, the longer the neck the easier it is to get over the hills and valleys. I found out how important the length of the neck is the hard way. I first bought a Dewalt nibbler, a quality tool with ample power but the neck was too short and it was darn near impossible to get the tool up and over the high crown of the corrugations.
The second feature is power, and I discovered this Hitachi CN 16SA is more than adequate when I later cut out some patterns from a 16 gauge sheet of mild steel.
I have no problem giving this tool a five star rating.

The Hitachi Nibbler is one of the two best purchases I have ever made. Cutting corrugated 26 gauge steel roofing is not fun! The Nibbler makes it easy. A little difficult in the beginning due to figuring out how to make it move up and down on an angle cut, but once that is done it's terrific. I am a contractor and love purchasing tools that save time and turn out a good product.

This was used to trim a newly installed metal roof. The problem was the front of the 1930's house was not exactly straight so the metal roof extended over the roof eaves from 3 to 6 inches. Using a 2X4 as a guide the eave was trimmed using the Hitachi nibbler so the overhang is now 2". The nibbler worked perfectly, it was easy to cut across the ribs of the metal roof. The line cut was clean, far better than sawing or grinding or using a hand shear. I will be using it for more projects, it is my new favorite tool.

What a great tool! We use this tool 4 days per week to cut 26 and 29 ga corrugated metals. We used to cut metal with a grinding wheel...this is so much faster and safer...no sparks. I would buy this again!

This tool is a must for anyone installing a metal roof. It is one of the best assets in a tool that I have ever purchased. I would never attempt a project of this magnitude without this tool. I am so pleased that Amazon has the variety of tools so useful.

I have built 3 metal sided buildings on my farm. The first two I did with hand shears and by turning a saw blade backwards to cut the metal. This last building was a greenhouse with two doors and lots of windows. I was almost in tears thinking about cutting all the metal by hand. I saw a review on this product and bit the bullet on the price. I can tell you without a doubt this thing will cut metal siding like it is made of butter. I did all the cutting without any trouble, and it almost made me feel like a real tin-bender. It is designed not to take your fingers off like shears or a saw blade. I enjoyed the product because it did what it is advertised to do and it did it flawlessly. I know it is pricey for the novice, but when you get it and use it you will feel like a pro. My only regret is I didn't buy it sooner. It was a joy to know a product can do what it is actually designed to do.

Bought to replace air nibbler that was discontinued. This is by far better. Cuts like a dream and the depth of cutting tool allows for MUCH greater angled cuts. Best nibbler we've used.
